Mediation and Conflict Resolution
Postgraduate studies in Mediation and Conflict Resoultion at UniSA aim to prepare graduates from diverse professional backgrounds for advanced practice, policy development and research in areas involving conflict, mediation and the cultural aspects of dispute resolution.

UniSA's programs in Mediation and Conflict Resolution will provide:
- an advanced understanding of various theories of conflict and interpersonal violence

Who are the programs for?
These three nested programs are designed for postgraduates from a wide range of fields and disciplines including: law, the social sciences (e.g. social work, psychology, counselling), the health sciences, education, human resource management, business, workplace relations, industrial relations and international relations.
The programs assist graduates to enhance their current employment opportunities, to increase their competence to handle conflict in their current positions, to gain promotion or to find more personally satisfying career opportunities.
Your career
New graduates have found career opportunities in a diverse range of fields (depending on their undergraduate qualification and area of specialisation), including in the areas of family law, child and family practice, parent-adolescent mediation, family group conferencing, community mediation, human resource management, court-annexed dispute resolution, unions, private practice and government and community-based organisations providing dispute-resolution services.
Special features
These programs have developed an international reputation for sound scholarship and preparation for practice in the area of mediation and conflict management and attract students from every State in Australia and from Europe, the United States, Africa and the Asia Pacific region. They were among the first to be established in Australia in the early 1990's. Many graduates and now leaders in the dispute resolution field and have completed PhD's.
The programs are regularly reviewed and graduates and representatives from the field are consulted in order to ensure that the course topics and content are up-to-date.
Experienced practitioners from the mediation and conflict management field contribute to the teaching and learning of students through supervised skills training in the mediation courses and supervised field placements. The Program Director maintains a close working relationship with the field through leadership of national and international committees, consultancies and research.
There are overseas placement and research opportunities available for those students who wish to undertake these components of the programs outside of Australia.
