Employment trends in the human services
Harvey, Judy and Kennedy, Rosemary (June 2000) Advertised Jobs in the Human Services: advice to prospective employees. Australian Journal of Career Development, Winter 2001, 10, 2, 28-33.

This paper concerns advice for people wishing to prepare themselves through education and other means for work in human services in Australia. It briefly outlines the human services, the jobs, professional and occupational groups of which they are comprised, and employment prospects in them. It reports in more detail on a study of human service job advertisements from 1997 to 2000 in both South Australia and a national newspaper. From data in the advertisements it comments briefly on implications for educators, the professions and employers, and elaborates on implications for prospective employees and students.

If you are a student or staff member of the University of South Australia, this article is available full text through the database Australian Public Affairs - Full Text (APAFT) (new window) by searching under the authors' names.
