Online Placement

Field Education Placements are administered by the Field Education Team in the School of Social Work and Social Policy. The process of allocation is assisted by student online interaction with SONIA software, which matches student preferences with available places in sites.
Final placements allocations are made by the Course Coordinator and Field Education Liaison Officers (FELO). Consideration is given to individual student circumstances, and any conditions that limit student access to some placements. Students will be notified by email by the Course Coordinator/ FELO of the designated week during the year when they are required to submit preferences for a Field Education Placement using SONIA.
SONIA will be open for viewing only from 7am on Monday, 5th November 2007 until 11pm on Wednesday, 7th November 2007. Students can read about the available placements for Study Period 2, 2008.
SONIA will be open for preferencing from 7am on Thursday, 8th November 2007 until 11pm on Sunday, 11th November 2007. Students can make their selections by following the instructions.
Important Notes:
- Login via the left hand column
- All students will need to login using the Student ID NOT the email ID
- Please use your Surname as the password
- SONIA will only be open for four days for students to make their selections. If selections are not made at this time, the Field Education Team will be in contact with the student(s) after the selection process.
- If SONIA does not allocate a placement for you with the offers that the Field Education Team have received, they will make it a priority to negotiate alternative placements for you. They can guarantee that everyone will have a placement prior to Study Period 2, 2008, so please do not panic about the process. Some agencies are still getting back to the Field Education Team with offers.
