Sourcing quotes
For a job of this size it’s advised you have a design agency provide quotes for laying out the flyers and print managing the job on your behalf. Print management involves sourcing print quotes, liaising with print reps and conducting press checks to ensure colour and print finishes are printed accurately (see also Print specifications).
When sourcing a quote, it is also important that you specify to the design agency that you will supply them with an InDesign file to use as a template. This will reduce overall costs as the job becomes a ‘layout’ task rather than a design task. Contact the Publications Coordinator for a copy of the appropriate InDesign file.
Recommended design agencies
The following design agencies are recommended by the Marketing & Development Unit:

Introduction
This section should generate interest/excitement about the program, the industry and/or UniSA. It’s best to write this section last.
Why study at UniSA?
What does UniSA/your school have to offer prospective students? What sets UniSA/your school apart?
When answering these questions you may like to consider the following:
- Has UniSA designed this program in consultation with industry? Are there strong industry links? How will this benefit students?
- Does this program offer students any real-world experiences (eg, placements, field trips, workshops, guest lecturers, study exchanges, etc)? How will this benefit students?
- Are we the only university in SA or Australia to offer this program? Is it exclusive to UniSA? Does UniSA specialise in this area of study?
- Do students have access to state-of-the-art facilities or equipment? How does this assist students in their learning? Do we have any facilities that other universities don’t?
- Are UniSA academic/research staff experts in this field of study? Do staff work with (or come from) industry?
- Are flexible study options available to students (eg, external, night, weekend classes)?
- Can students study the program in stages? (eg, step from Grad Cert, to Grad Dip, to Masters)? Why is this beneficial?
- Does this program offer credit/recognition of prior learning? Does real work experience qualify as ‘prior learning’?
- ‘Fast-track’ study option, does this program take advantage of UniSA’s fast-track study option which enables students to complete their program in a shorter, more intense study period
- What sort of specialised support services can you offer your students?
About the program
What are the key features of this program? Why should prospective students choose to study this program over a similar program offered elsewhere?
When answering these questions you may like to consider the following:
- Who is the program designed for?
- What will students get out of studying this program? How/why will it benefit students?
- What are the core areas of study? Describe the topics that are covered.
- How current is the program content (is it up to date and desired by industry)?
- Are there any work placements, o/s study, industry projects, etc offered as part of this program? What links with industry does the program have? (special programs, placements, guest lecturers, field trips etc)
- What is the likely outcome for graduates? Where will they find employment / How will the program progress their career?
- Any statistical information about employment rates, medium salary etc? Any industry trends that show that people with these skills are required?
- Program flexibility: Is this program offered externally or does it
offer night time or weekend classes?
Imagery
Flyer images must be full colour and must reflect the University and also the relevant area of study.
The design agency can select images from our UniSA image library, use
images you may wish to supply (if size and resolution are sufficient) or
purchase stock images on your behalf. If the design agency is sourcing
images on your behalf it’s a good idea to give them a brief indication of
the types of images you want (eg, ‘young women in business suits’). See also

How long will it take?
The time it takes to produce a flyer depends on how many flyers you wish to develop.
As a general rule you will need to set aside around a week for layout and at least a week for printing (this will, however, differ according to how many flyers you wish to produce).
Ask the design agency to develop a production schedule for
you that outlines when you can expect flyer PDF proofs and final delivery
date.
How much will it cost?
Layout and print costs will depend on how many flyers you wish to produce.
As this is a ‘layout’ task rather than a design task, overall costs will be reduced. It’s important to bear in mind, though, that design agencies generally allow for only one round of alterations in their quoting. The more changes you make the more it will affect costs.
Remember also that if the design agency needs to purchase images on your behalf you will incur additional costs. Ensure the design agency notifies you of image costs before they purchase any images on your behalf.
