Publishing your ezine

If outsourced

Web author's role

Once the external supplier has created the ezine they will send you the ezine files (zipped).

You will need to import the ezine webpage (HTML file) and associated images into the relevant subweb folder and publish it to the production server. A URL should have been provided for it in the Ezine Production Brief (Word doc).

How to importing files from an external supplier

  1. In FrontPage, create a destination folder for all files of this webpage in your local subweb that corresponds to the URL you provided in the Production Brief - an appropriate name might be 'ezine'. Create the folder it at the root level of your subweb (ie not as a folder within a folder).
  2. Import the files you were sent into this folder as you would normal files.
  3. You will need to check that all images have absolute references, ie, the code will look something like this:
    <img border="0" src="http://www.unisa.edu.au/tdu/ezine/images/banner.jpg" alt="University of South Australia Team UniSA Supporters Club" width="560" height="65" />.
  4. Then publish the 'ezine' folder to the production server. The images may not view until the ezine files have been published.
  5. You can then check the ezine displays correctly on a webpage by typing in the URL you supplied in the Production Brief.

Once you are happy with the look of your ezine when viewed in the browser, you or your Divisional Marketing and Alumni Officer (or similar) can organise for the ezine to be distributed.

If done in-house by a web author

  1. Refer to Authoring your ezine for steps on how to create your ezine.
  2. Publish the 'ezine' folder or the folder you created the ezine in, to the production server.
  3. You can then check the ezine displays correctly on a webpage by typing in the URL you supplied in the Production Brief.

Once you are happy with the look of your ezine when viewed in the browser, you or your Divisional Marketing and Alumni Officer (or similar) can organise for the ezine to be distributed.
