Someone to turn to

Deborah MyersDeborah Myers, an accredited lay-worker within the Lutheran Church of Australia, has recently been employed as a chaplain at the City West campus.

"I work with people of all denominations and religions and welcome anyone who’d like to share their spirituality or any personal, faith or ethical concerns with me," she said.

"I provide spiritual care and pastoral support for students and staff regardless of their beliefs, cultural background or lifestyle. I encourage individuals and the University community to address issues of faith, ethics, justice and the bigger questions of life."

Although she is only on campus on Tuesdays during term, usually in Yugondi building, level 4, room 14 between noon and 4 pm, Deborah can be contacted 24/7 by mobile 0429 796 669 or by email deborah.myers@unisa.edu.au

She also works with the Multifaith Chaplaincy team at Flinders University on Wednesdays, where she is based in the Religious Centre.

Myers has a background in education, having begun her teaching career at Ernabella in the state’s north-west. She studied at four different tertiary institutions, both on and off campus, and has been on the staff at Charles Darwin University and the Australian Lutheran College. She also served as a lay-worker in the Port Lincoln, Nuriootpa and Ceduna parishes.

Myers urges students and staff alike to feel free to contact her.

"Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can support you, or anyone whom you think could need my services," she said.
