Getting Personnel

Ursula BronickiUrsula Bronicki aspires to manage things at a high level in the human resources sector. And if winning a scholarship with ISS Tempo – a company expected to generate annual revenue of around $700 million in 2007 – is anything to go by, she looks set to fulfil her ambitions.

Currently in her third year of a marketing and human resources degree, Bronicki will travel to Denmark in July to take up a four-month exchange program. She will be based at the Aarhus School of Business, renowned for its high quality research-based study programs.

Bronicki is keen to discover how Denmark’s cultural identity is apparent in the workplace.

"As a collective society, Denmark is one of the most progressively egalitarian countries in the world. I’m looking forward to seeing how this flows on in a professional context," she said.

Her desire to one day become an HR consultant has been galvanised by a final year that has been packed with practical research.

"I want to work in a role where I work with other people as much as on my own. Being taught by people who not only have a real passion for what they do, but have also enjoyed great success in their field, makes me that much more passionate about my career," Bronicki said.

But it’s not just the professional development she is looking forward to. Bronicki is keen to explore more of the region that runs through her veins. A first-generation Australian whose parents migrated from Poland, Bronicki has been to Europe twice already. But this will mark her first "solo" trip, staying alone in a foreign country, living in student accommodation with complete strangers.

"I can’t wait to meet new people and do things differently. I think change facilitates, and perhaps forces, your own personal growth."

Bronicki credits UniSA with broadening her horizons, particularly in the final year of study.

"There are work practicums, seminars and some great networking events. The only annoying thing about going to Denmark is that I won’t be there for the Uni’s best networking function, Network Now."
