Autumn in Paris for our SIFE champs
by Michèle Nardelli
Hot
on the heels of a 2005 victory in the national Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)
competitions, UniSA has again won the Australian title and a place in the
SIFE World Cup in Paris in September.Building on the success of the Robotics
Peer Mentoring project for High Schools last year, the six student team
presented new allied projects including the development of a special
Financial Literacy Website for students and the local development of the
Indigenous Theatre Company. All three projects emphasised the empowerment of
young people to achieve success, as well as personal and professional
growth.
The team – (pictured, from left) Sam Rodgers (Flinders University), Kate Pepper (UniSA School of Commerce), Aaron Mohtar (School of Electrical and Information Engineering), Tim Martin (School of Commerce and School of Computer and Information Science), Shivvaan Sathasilvam (School of Electrical and Information Engineering) and Leila Seith Hassan (School of Marketing and School of Commerce) – so impressed the judges that two members were offered jobs on the spot.
That kind of pizazz may be just what they need to take out the World Cup – here’s hoping.
