Young achiever awards

UniSA students are being invited to take part in the 2005 SA Young Achiever Awards.

The awards, to be launched at the Hilton on October 6, aim to highlight the successes of young people in the 14 to 26 age group.

There are eight categories open for nomination, including the SA Water Environment Award, the Coffee Club Arts Award, Intencity Sports Award, Allianz Community Service Award, Bolieau Business Solutions Career Achievement Award, AGL Regional Initiative Award, Office for Youth Outstanding Young Indigenous Achiever Award, and the Adelaide University Science and Technology Award.

Category winners will each receive a $1000 prize and a trophy, with the overall winner receiving an extra $1000 and a holiday.

Writing competition – history of ‘Black Dog’

Want to win $5000 for writing a 1500 word essay? Well it could happen, if you enter a competition being run by the Black Dog Institute.

The Black Dog Institute (a not-for-profit research, educational and clinical body specialising in mood disorders) is running a writing competition to help uncover the history of the term ‘black dog.’

Entries must be in the form of a written essay (between 1500 to 5000 words) and must address the history of ‘black dog’ as a term used to describe depression. For more information and application forms, visit the website at www.blackdoginstitute.org.au or phone the institute on (02) 9382 4523.

Your club footage sought for new TV show

Dance music TV show Clubaxis is looking budding filmmakers to contribute to the program.

The show’s producers are looking for old and new club footage to feature on the program, which screens on Channel 31 on Saturday nights.
