Free phones for feedback

PHONE FUN: Back row (from left) Julia Martin, Kieran Fleming, Nick Stillwell, and front, Hassan Ghamrawi and Nicola Williams.

With most UniSA students now enroling online in less than two hours, that often-dreaded process has come a long way from the not-too-distant past when you'd spend the good part of a day lining up to enrol in person at your local campus.

However no system is perfect and there's always room for improvement – which is why Student and Academic Services conducted a survey to gather student feedback on the process.

All of the 4,279 students who responded were put into a random draw to win ten mobile phones – and the winners have now been announced: Hassan Ghamrawi, Julia Zollo, Nick Stillwell, Nicola Williams, Anne Margaret Taylor, Belinda Walker, Philip Newitt, Jenna Lee, Julie Martin and Maciek Barszczowski.

They were presented with their phones at a ceremony on May 13. Multimedia student Kieran Fleming was a special guest on the day. He was presented with a $100 book voucher for designing a game which involves shooting as many 'enrolment turtles' as you can in 30 seconds. Kieran says it took him about five hours to create the game, inspired by a server glitch experienced when he was enroling in 2002.

If you responded to the survey and missed out on winning a prize, don't despair, there will be more goodies up for grabs later in the year for students who respond to the Student Experiences Questionnaire.
