Opportunities for Senior Staff
UniSA’s approach to learning and professional development for senior staff involves a series of interlocking activities which acknowledges the relationship between individual, group and whole of organisation development. Activities include
- provision for individual development, facilitated by the University’s Performance Management process.
- executive Coaching Program, provided by McPhee Andrewartha offering confidential advice and coaching on issues such as leadership, planning and management. The Coaching program, which had been in operation with the Senior Management Group since 1999, was extended to Heads of School, Directors and Division Managers in 2001, and then to Deans in 2002.
- Contextual Awareness seminars to engage senior staff in learning and discussions about the environment in which UniSA operates
- support of learning through networking and collaboration. This involves support for collegial groups where learning is undertaken with peers. UniSA has fostered the establishment of collegial groups of Heads of School, Directors of Units and Division Managers. These groups meet regularly throughout the year and come together annually for 2-day retreats where they identify areas for shared exploration and peer development. Support for other groups is currently being considered.
Details of workshops, seminars and development opportunities available to senior staff can be found each month in the section of the website called Development at a glance.
