Peter Kentish is a lecturer in the area of Materials Engineering, and has been with the UniSA since 1989. Peter graduated as a Secondary Metallurgist (Materials Engineer) from the then South Australian Institute of Technology, now the University of South Australia. He is currently enrolled in post graduate studies, researching the influence of surface texture on the stress corrosion cracking characteristics of coated steel pipelines.

Peter is also very active in the external consulting field providing services to manufacturing, insurance companies, barristers, government agencies and the public. He is also a laboratory assessor for NATA, having performed assessments in various states of Australia.

  • Corrosion

  • Fatigue

  • Fracture mechanics

  • Materials selection

  • Mechanical testing

  • Stress corrosion cracking

Peter Kentish is also involved with the Ian Wark Institute in an ARC Linkage Grant in biomedical engineering, entitled: “Advanced intramedullary nailing systems”. The project is expected to commence in 2006.

For more information see Peter's UniSA homepage

Dr. Kevin Mills is an adjunct Senior Lecturer who joined SMAG in 1988. He is now an adjunct Senior Lecturer who specialises in the following areas:

  • Geotechnical engineering

  • Pavement engineering

  • Numerical modelling (finite elements and finite differences)

Kevin is also involved in setting up the 'Pulsing Pavement Testing Facility' which is being set up on the laboratory strong floor for future research and development with Transport SA.
