The University of South Australia has announced the creation of a new Defence and Systems Institute (DASI) at Mawson Lakes campus, set to operate as world leader in research and education in complex systems from January 2007.

DASI awarded research funding to combat terrorism

As part of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's Research Support for Counter-Terrorism program, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Hon Anthony Byrne yesterday announced funding for two research projects in UniSA's Defence and Systems Institute (DASI) to enhance Australia's counter-terrorism capabilities.

New associate degrees in defence technology being offered at UniSA are set to help fill the skills gap in the burgeoning defence industry.

The shortage of skilled technical professionals in the defence industry has seen graduate engineers fill the breech when they are already in high demand as full engineers for the defence sector and other industries in SA.

Systems Engineering and Evaluation Centre

The Systems Engineering and Evaluation Centre is an accredited research centre within the University of South Australia. The centre was established in 1999 as the successor of the Australian Centre for Test and Evaluation (ACTE). ACTE was founded in 1992 to provide a focus for test and evaluation in the Asia-Pacific region.
