Grote Street Precinct

this project is a small part of the Grote ECO project - image Courtesy of the Grote Eco siteThis project is a State Energy Research Advisory Committee (SENRAC) funded project.

Essentially, our part of the project is to create a questionnaire, which aims to discover information about the energy and water use and the waste production of the 420 businesses and 60 residents in the Grote Street precinct. As part of the questionnaire, the respondents are asked to authorise us to obtain their billing information for the past 18-months from AGL (electricity), Origin (gas) and SA Water (water).

Responses made by precinct members will be analysed, and this information will be used to determine the energy use of different business types located in the Grote Street precinct.

We intend to generate models of these different business types to help others in South Australia benchmark their energy use or estimate potential use, amongst other things. Ultimately though, this survey will allow us to obtain a baseline for energy use, water consumption and waste production of the Grote Street precinct.

It is anticipated that the survey will be conducted a second time, two years after the initial survey. The reason for this will be to ascertain a new baseline and quantify the success or failure of initiatives introduced by the Grote Street Business Association, as part of a larger project known as Grote ECO, of which this project is a small component.
