Science at the Lakes 2007 Friday 17 August 2007
Science at the Lakes (SATL) 2007 was held at the University of South Australia Mawson Lakes Campus Friday 17th August 2007. Students attending were in year levels 4-10 with registrations received by 1371 students from 28 schools, an additional 200 students and five schools than had registered for the 2006 event.
With some 33 activities and 6 displays students received a fun and interactive day based around Science. From airship telemetry, a mawson lakes sustainability bus tour, wetland tours, science shows, physics for primary students and racing robots, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The fifth annual event attracted schools from as far as Palmer and Seaford as well as engaging local northern area schools Para Hills, Salisbury High School, Parafield Gardens High School and of course Mawson Lakes School. For the first time local schools also participated by not only attending the event but also preparing workshops including Scintillating Science, Nanoscience, the Gawler High Green Crew and more.
The event received excellent feedback from all involved and was an enjoyable day to inspire students about science.
