The
Annette and Leon Davis Scholarships
The Annette and Leon Davis Scholarships are open to Port Pirie school
leavers who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program at
UniSA commencing in 2009. Each scholarship is valued up to $45,000 and will
provide a payment of $11,000 per annum for a maximum of 4 years. An
additional payment of $1,000 will be paid in the first year to assist with
relocation expenses. The scholarship payments will be made in two
instalments each year subject to continued satisfactory progress. Selection
will be based on financial disadvantage, personal written statement,
references and performance at an interview. The
scholarship cannot be held in conjunction with any other scholarship.
Value: Up to $45,000

The
David Pank Northern Areas High Achiever Scholarship
The David Pank Northern Areas High Achiever Scholarship aims to assist financially disadvantaged high achieving students from Northern Area High Schools to study an undergraduate degree at UniSA. The scholarship is available to students who are new to higher education and enrolled full time in any UniSA undergraduate degree from designated High Schools. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have a TER of 80 or above and must be able to demonstrate that the majority of their high school attendance has been at one of the following designated Northern Area High Schools (UNAP): Craigmore High School, Fremont Elizabeth High School, Gawler High School, Kaurna Plains High School, Parafield Gardens High School, Para Hills High School, Para West Adult Campus, Paralowie R-12, Salisbury High School, Salisbury East High School, Smithfield Plains High School.

UniSA-PAL Scholarships
Two scholarships are offered for students enrolled in the UniSA-PAL
Program at Para West Adult Campus. Students must live in the UNAP priority
areas of Salisbury, Playford or Gawler. The Scholarship will commence while
the student is in the UniSA-PAL year and continue for the duration of study
in a selected undergraduate program at UniSA.
The Scholarships will be valued at $2,000 per year and will be for a maximum
period of 5 years (1 year PAL and 3-4 years undergraduate studies).
Applicants will be required to demonstrate financial need and will be
selected by a written application and an interview.

Don
Hawke Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship has been provided by Jean Pearce to support commencing
students from a financially disadvantaged and rural or isolated
background in South Australia, including Whyalla and Mt Gambier. The
scholarship aims to support young people who have completed a senior
secondary qualification within the last two years, and who have gained
life experience outside of school.
This scholarship requires the student to have a gap year between leaving
high-school and commencing University studies. The frequency of this
scholarship award may vary, and is at the discretion of the trustees.
Each scholarship will be valued up to a maximum of $25,000 per annum,
for the life of the recipient's program (up to 5 years), and will cover
fees, accommodation, living and any other expenses relating to the
program of study. Disbursement of the scholarship will include a stipend
payment made to the student for living and other expenses on a
fortnightly basis during study periods only.
Applications will open from June of the year before the scholarship is
offered and will close in September of the same year. In order to apply
applicants must have received an offer from UniSA and deferred for one
year.
Other requirements include:
- Applicants must have lived in a rural or isolated area of South Australia (including Whyalla and Mt Gambier) for at least three of the four years immediately prior to the scholarship application.
- Applicants must be recent school leavers with secondary school studies completed not more than two years prior to submitting the application.
- Applicants must have had between a minimum of one but no more than two years since completing secondary studies and scholarship commencement.
- Applicants must not have already attended a tertiary or higher education Institution.
- Applicants must be prepared to provide a personal written statement outlining proposed University program, demonstrated career and personal goals and how the scholarship would help them achieve those goals.
- Applicants must be prepared to provide statements from two referees as character references.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time during receipt of scholarship funding.
- Applicants must provide details of any previous awards or scholarships.
The Don Hawke Memorial Scholarship will be offered again in 2011.

Gavin
Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship
This scholarship is open to Indigenous students of the University of
South Australia who are enrolled full time in any undergraduate program.
Gavin Wanganeen is the first Indigenous Australian to receive an AFL
life membership for playing 300 official matches. He is also a
premiership star, Brownlow medallist, five-time All Australian and
Best-and-Fairest winner with Port Adelaide Football Club. Gavin
Wanganeen is a role model and representative for Indigenous youth in
Australia and UniSA is the only university in Australia which has
identified a commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
education in its charter. The selection criteria for the Gavin Wanganeen
Indigenous Scholarship will take into consideration a student's academic
results, community activity and potential for success at university.
The recipient is required to act as a positive ambassador for the
scholarship to encourage support.
Value: $5,000 per year up to a maximum of $20,000 Payment will be made in two instalments of $2,5000 each, after the Study Period 2 and 5 census dates.

The
Ian Gould Experimental Science Honours Scholarship
At the heart of good science is the experiment and at the heart of good
scientific training is the opportunity to engage in measurement and in the
collection and statistical analysis of one's own experimental data.
The Ian Gould Experimental Science Honours Scholarship has been established
via a personal gift from Dr Ian Gould, Chancellor of the University of South
Australia . The scholarship aims to encourage students to undertake `hands
on' research, where the student proposes to engage actively in experimental
work and collect and analyse their own data for thesis work in any area of
science, including the social sciences.
The scholarship is to support the student with living expenses throughout a
full-time Honours year. Applicants should hold or expect to obtain an
undergraduate degree by commencement of the Honours degree.
Applicants must be acceptable for admission to candidature of an Honours
degree and must be commencing full-time study at the University of South
Australia in the year for which the scholarship is tenable. Applicants from
any university are eligible to apply.
Two scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, research
thesis proposal, a reference from research thesis proposal, a reference from
the research supervisor, and performance at an interview
Value: $5,000 split into two instalments of $2,500 after Study
Period 2 and Study Period 5 census dates, subject to satisfactory progress.

The
Irene and David Davy Scholarship for Advancement of Aboriginal Education
This scholarship is open to Indigenous students of the University of South Australia who are, or will be, undertaking the final year of an undergraduate program or an Honours year in 2009. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and community service and is normally valued at $5,000 per full-time year.

and Johan Høj Rural Reconnect Scholarships
The John and Johan Høj Rural Reconnect Scholarships were established via
a personal gift from Professor Peter Høj, Vice Chancellor and President of
University of South Australia are in honour of Professor Høj's father and
grandfather who lived in rural Denmark and did not get the opportunity to
educate themselves to express their full potential.
There will be four scholarships per year valued at $6,000 each to assist
students from rural and isolated areas to fund their relocation costs
associated with moving to the city in order to pursue full-time
undergraduate study. Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents and are assessed on the basis of financial disadvantage, academic
merit, a personal written statement, and a character reference. Recipients
are also required to contribute to their local community, provide a written
reflection at the conclusion of their scholarship, and participate in
scholarship research.
Scholarship payments are split into three instalments: $2,000 in January,
$3,000 after Study Period 2 Census Date, and $1,000 at the conclusion of
Study Period 5, subject to demonstrated community involvement.

Water Undergraduate Indigenous Scholarship
The SA Water Undergraduate Indigenous Scholarship will be available for 1st, 2nd or 3rd year Indigenous students studying full time in a program at the University.
To be eligible for this scholarship students must :
- Be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident
- Have an idea of their future and how the scholarship will be of benefit to them in achieving this
- Have an interest in SA Water Graduate Program and be willing to attend Graduate Program functions at SA Water
- Have the ability to be a positive ambassador for SA Water
Value: Up to $20,000 in total equating to $5,000 per year (2 instalments of $2,500 after the SP2 and SP5 census dates). Recipients may also have the opportunity to undertake paid employment at SA Water during the summer vacation period.

Research Scholarships
The University of South Australia offers two types of Summer Research Scholarships:
High
Achiever Research
Vacation Scholarships
These scholarships are for undergraduate students in their second, third or
Honours year, who have a strong academic record. The scholarships offer the
opportunity to undertake research for up to 8 weeks with experienced
researchers, usually between December and February, in a recognised Research
Institute or Centre within UniSA.

UniSA-ANU Vice Chancellors' Summer Research Scholarships
These scholarships are intended for undergraduate students with a strong
academic record who are completing the third or fourth year of a full-time
program. UniSA-ANU Vice Chancellors' Summer Research Scholars are expected
to undertake supervised research work at the Australian National University
(ANU), Canberra, for eight weeks.

Wyndham
Richardson Tertiary Student Care Trust Scholarship
Four scholarships are made available due to the generosity of the
Wyndham Richardson Tertiary Student Care Trust. The objectives of the
Scholarship are to encourage and assist students undertaking tertiary
education. Four scholarships valued at $2,000 each will be available
to assist with accommodation expenses for low income students who
originate from rural or remote area's in any Australian State.
The scholarships are open to continuing and commencing students.
Students must meet all of the following essential selection
criteria:

Student must be able to verify financial disadvantage (eg through evidence of means tested Centrelink benefits or through assessment by the 'UniSA Scholarships Assessment Form');

Students must originate from a rural or regional area. Students who have moved in order to study will be given first priority;
-
Students must be enrolled into an undergraduate degree program on a full time basis. Those who can verify extenuating circumstances (eg disability or carer status) will have the opportunity to do so in the application form, and they may be deemed eligible with 50% or more load (in line with the University's equity policy).
The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit. Where applications require further separation, other equity indicators may be taken into account according to the University's equity focus (as defined by the University's equity policy).
To apply students will need to log into the myUniSA Student Portal and clicking on my Studies. This will display a 'my Scholarships' link (on the right hand side of the page) which will take you to the my Scholarships homepage.
Value: $2,000 to assist with accommodation expenses
