Don
Hawke Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship has been provided by Jean Pearce to support commencing students from a financially disadvantaged and rural or isolated background including Whyalla and Mt Gambier. The scholarship aims to support young people who have recently completed a senior secondary qualification and who have gained life experience outside of school.
The number of scholarships will vary from year to year and is at the
discretion of the Trustee.
Each scholarship will be valued at a maximum of $25,000 per annum, for
the life of the recipient's program (up to 5 years), and will cover
fees, accommodation, living and any other expenses relating to the
program of study. Disbursement of the scholarship will include a stipend
payment made to the student for living expenses on a fortnightly basis
during study periods only.
This scholarship requires the student to have a gap year between leaving high-school and commencing University studies. Students who have recently completed secondary schooling (in 2007) must defer their place at UniSA for one year and use that time to gain experience outside of school if successful in winning the scholarship. Depending on the successful applicant, the scholarship will commence in 2008 or 2009. Other requirements include:
- Applicants must have lived in a rural or isolated area (including Whyalla and Mt Gambier) for at least three of the four years immediately prior to the scholarship application.
- Applicants must be recent school leavers ?with secondary school studies completed not more than two years prior to submitting the application.
- Applicants must have had between a minimum of one but no more than two years off since completing secondary studies.
- Applicants must not have already attended a tertiary or higher education Institution.
- Applicants must be prepared to provide a personal written statement outlining study details, demonstrated career and personal goals.
- Applicants must be prepared to provide statements from two referees as character references.
Applications will open online from 14 January and will close on 18 February.
In order to apply you will have to have enrolled in a UniSA program of
study.

Gavin
Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship
This scholarship is open to Indigenous students of the University of South Australia who are enrolled in any undergraduate program.
Gavin Wanganeen is the first Indigenous Australian to receive an AFL life membership for playing 300 official matches. He is also a premiership star, Brownlow medallist, five-time All Australian and Best-and-Fairest winner with Port Adelaide Football Club. Gavin Wanganeen is a role model and representative for Indigenous youth in Australia and UniSA is the only university in Australia which has identified a commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education in its charter.
The selection criteria for the Gavin Wanganeen Scholarship will take into consideration a student’s academic results, community activity and potential for success at university.

The
Irene and David Davy Scholarship for Advancement of Indigenous Education
This scholarship is open to Indigenous students of the University of South Australia who are, or will be, undertaking the final year of an undergraduate program or an Honours year in 2008. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and community service and is normally valued at $5,000 per full-time year.

UniSA-PAL Scholarships
This scholarship is offered to students enrolled in the UniSA-PAL Program at Para West Adult Campus. Students must live in the UNAP region priority areas of Salisbury, Playford or Gawler.
The Scholarship will commence while the student is in the UniSA-PAL year and continue for the duration of study in a selected undergraduate program at UniSA.
The Scholarships will be valued at $2,000 per year and will be for a maximum period of 5 years (1 year PAL and 3-4 years undergraduate studies). Applicants will be required to demonstrate financial need and will be selected by a written application and an interview. Maximum amount of the scholarship is $10,000.

Achiever Research
Vacation Scholarships
UniSA undergraduate students in their third or Honours year, who have a
strong academic record, are offered the opportunity to undertake research
for up to 8 weeks with experienced researchers, usually between December and
February, in a recognised research institute or centre within UniSA.
These scholarships are provided principally for educational purposes to
enable the recipient to engage in and gain experience in research.
Vacation scholarships are available each year and are awarded on a
competitive basis, based on academic merit.

David Pank Northern Areas High Achiever Scholarship
The David Pank Northern Areas High Achiever Scholarship aims to assist financially disadvantaged high achieving students from Northern Area High Schools to study an undergraduate degree at UniSA.
The scholarship is available for application by students new to higher education enrolled full time in any UniSA undergraduate degree from designated High Schools.
To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must have a TER of 80 or above and must be able to demonstrate that the majority of their high school attendance has been at one of the following designated Northern Area High Schools (UNAP):

Annette and Leon Davis Scholarships
The Annette and Leon Davis Scholarships are open to Port Pirie school
leavers, enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program at UniSA.
Each scholarship is valued up to $45,000 and will provide a payment of
$11,000 per annum for a maximum of 4 years. An additional payment of $1,000
will be paid in the first year to assist with relocation expenses. The
scholarship payments will be made in two instalments each year subject to
continued satisfactory progress. The scholarship cannot be held in
conjunction with any other scholarship.

Wyndham
Richardson Tertiary Student Care Trust Scholarship
Four scholarships are made available due to the generosity of the
Wyndham Richardson Tertiary Student Care Trust. The objectives of the
Scholarship are to encourage and assist students undertaking tertiary
education. Four scholarships valued at $2,000 each will be available
to assist with accommodation expenses for low income students who
originate from rural or remote area’s in any Australian State.
The scholarships are open to continuing and commencing students.
Students must meet all of the following essential selection
criteria:

Student must be able to verify financial disadvantage (eg through evidence of means tested Centrelink benefits or through assessment by the 'UniSA Scholarships Assessment Form');

Students must originate from a rural or regional area. Students who have moved in order to study will be given first priority;

Students must be enrolled into an undergraduate degree program on a full time basis. Those who can verify extenuating circumstances (eg disability or carer status) will have the opportunity to do so in the application form, and they may be deemed eligible with 50% or more load (in line with the University’s equity policy).
The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit. Where applications require further separation, other equity indicators may be taken into account according to the University’s equity focus (as defined by the University’s equity policy).
