Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy Double Degree Scholarship
The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences will award two one year scholarships annually for the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy Double Degree. The Scholarships are valued at $2,500 each. Students will be selected based on satisfactory academic merit.

Bupa Nursing Experiential Learning Grants
Ten grants valued at $1,000 each are available to 3rd year Bachelor of Nursing students who are studying full time and undertaking 2 x 8 week field placements. Recipients will be selected on academic merit and financial disadvantage. Dose Optimisation Grant
This grant is open to students in their 4th year of the Medical Imaging stream of the Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science in 2011.
The grant supports a data collection and research activity where students will be required to collect and collate radiation dose data from CT scanners in South Australia during their clinical placement.

Research Training Scholarship
The Division of Health Sciences is offering up to 10 scholarships to students who are undertaking a full-year Honours research program and who are in receipt of a Division of Health Science Honours Scholarship.
The Scholarship will provide extra financial support to Honours students who have the potential to go on to a PhD in their area of research, with competitive scholarship support.

Gladys
Elphick Memorial Scholarship
Gladys Elphick MBE was a highly respected member of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of South Australia. She was particularly active in the development of services in the areas of lobbying which culminated in the establishment of the first Aboriginal community controlled health service in the Adelaide region, which continues on today in the form of Nunkuwarrin Yunti of SA Inc. An anonymous donor has provided a bequest to the University of South Australia, School of Health Sciences, to allow a scholarship to be awarded in memory of Gladys Elphick. This bequest has been used to fund a scholarship in support of an Indigenous student undertaking studies within the school, to a total value of $5000.

Indigenous Leaders in Community Health
Development Scholarship
This Scholarship is to provide support for up to 3 Australian Indigenous
scholars studying either the one-year Bachelor of Health Science/Applied
Science (Honours) program at the University of South Australia or the
Graduate Certificate Health Science (Research Methodologies) at the
University of South Australia and/or another agreed prescribed study program
incorporating courses at the University of South Australia and from another
Australian tertiary institution on a full-time basis leading to entry into a
full-time PhD program.
Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to up to 3 Indigenous
students who have achieved a high level of knowledge and skills in the basic
public health disciplines of epidemiology, biostatistics, qualitative
methods, measures of health outcomes, health promotion theory and practice,
public health nutrition, quality improvement and project management as well
as a basic understanding of the principles of health economics. Applicants
will have a gained a broad understanding of the Indigenous health system in
Australia.
Applicants will be ranked on:
- Tertiary Qualifications - Applicants must hold at least an undergraduate degree in a health related discipline;
- The level of experience gained in one or more of the areas listed above.
Applicants must be willing to be enrolled on a full time basis in the one
year Bachelor of Health Science/Applied Science (Honours) program or the
Graduate Certificate in Health Science (Research Methodologies) program at
the University of South Australia.
The Scholarships will not be offered if there are no suitable applicants.
Each scholarship recipient will receive a stipend of $56,750 as well as the
cost of fees for the Bachelor of Health Science/Applied Science (Honours)
program or the Graduate Certificate in Health Science (Research
Methodologies) program.

International Undergraduate Scholarships
The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences will award a maximum of two
International Undergraduate Scholarships in each Undergraduate Program each
year, to commencing Fee Paying Overseas Students.
Students must be enrolled in one of the following Undergraduate Degree
Programs to gain one of the scholarships as listed:
Bachelor of Pharmacy
Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine
Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences
Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Bachelor of Medical Sciences
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence to
outstanding students. Applicants must have attained the necessary entry
requirements as outlined in the current University 'Programs, Fees and Entry
Requirements for International Students' booklet.
Scholarships are valued at 25% of the total program tuition fees.
Students will be selected on merit and are expected to maintain satisfactory
performance throughout the duration of their degree program, including,
where appropriate, honours (as defined in University policy).

Margaret
E Pank First Year Nursing Grant
The Margaret E Pank First Year Nursing Grant has been established through a gift from the Pank family. The grant will be offered to commencing students enrolled full time in the first year of the Bachelor of Nursing program (IBNU), and will enable the recipients to fund a Senior First Aid Course and purchase appropriate professional attire (uniform and shoes) and text books.
Applicants must reside in South Australia and be Australian citizens or permanent residents. They must also provide evidence of financial disadvantage and a written statement (max. 500 words) with their application outlining their career goals and future plans and how the grant will help them achieve their ambitions. Details of financial disadvantage should also be included in the written statement.
The grant will be awarded on the basis of financial hardship, academic merit (ATAR) and an interview.
Value: The total value of the grant is $1,000. Payment will be made after the Study Period 2 census date.

Margaret E Pank Nursing Scholarship
The Margaret E Pank Nursing Scholarship will be offered for a two year period to South Australian students enrolled full time in the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing program (IBNU).
Applicants must provide evidence of financial disadvantage and a supporting statement with their application outlining their career and personal aspirations and how the scholarship will assist them in achieving their goals. Details of financial disadvantage should also be included in the written statement.
Applicants who are in receipt of another Pank Family scholarship/grant are not eligible to apply.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview conducted by the Selection Panel. In exceptional circumstances, applicants may be interviewed via a teleconference.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial hardship, academic merit, a supporting statement and an interview.
Value: $4,000. Recipients will receive an annual payment of $2,000 made in two instalments of $1,000 after the Study Period 2 and Study Period 5 census dates.

Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Honours)
Scholarship
The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences considers Honours as a prestigious qualification, setting graduates apart as high achievers. Students are prepared for direct entry into PhD by research either immediately after completing Honours or at a further time.
The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences will offer up to a total of 10 scholarships to full time students enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Honours).
Scholarships will be valued at $7,000 per annum and will be paid in two
equal instalments in the first and second half of the year after the census
date.
- To be eligible for consideration for the scholarship, candidates must be
enrolled full time in the Bachelor of Medical and Pharmaceutical Science
(Honours).
- Eligible candidates must apply for the scholarship by submitting a
completed scholarship form online before the closing date, together with a
one page supporting statement outlining their commitment to achieving their
stated outcome/goals.
- Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic merit and must have
a minimum GPA of 5.0 (exclusive of their first year of study).
- Scholarships are awarded for 1 year subject to maintaining full time
study and satisfactory progress within the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical and
Medical Science (Honours) degree, as defined by University policy.
A scholarship will not be offered if there are no suitable candidates.

Year 12 Undergraduate Scholarship
Awarded to the highest ranked year 12 student choosing the Bachelor of Nursing, program offered by the Division of Health Sciences at City East or Whyalla as their first SATAC preference in the January admission period, based on their Tertiary Education Rank (TER). The scholarship will cover the upfront student contribution amounts over the three years of the Bachelor of Nursing program, provided the recipient maintains satisfactory progress. The scholarship would be extended to cover the upfront student contribution amounts for scholarship holders electing to continue immediately to the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) after the completion of their initial Bachelor of Nursing.

75th Anniversary Undergraduate Indigenous Nursing Scholarship
The Resthaven 75th Anniversary Undergraduate Indigenous Nursing Scholarship is available to full-time Indigenous students who are undertaking their second year of the Bachelor of Nursing program.
Applicants must have a genuine interest in aged care as a career and in their studies within the context of the needs of services for older Indigenous people; and be prepared to undertake a placement at Resthaven or an Indigenous specific service established for older Indigenous people during their program.
Applicants must choose the Aged Care Specialisation when they undertake Experiential Learning Activity - Practicum 3 in the third year of their program. Applicants must also be willing to speak constructively and positively about the important work that nurses do in aged care.
Applicants will be asked to provide evidence of financial disadvantage and a written statement detailing their career objectives, their interest in aged care and how the scholarship will assist them in achieving their goals.

75th Anniversary Undergraduate Second Year Nursing Scholarships
The Resthaven 75th Anniversary Undergraduate Second Year Nursing Scholarships are available to full-time students who are undertaking their second year of the Bachelor of Nursing program.
Applicants must demonstrate an interest in aged care as a career and in their studies and must choose the Aged Care Specialisation when they undertake Experiential Learning Activity - Practicum 3 in the third year of their program. Applicants must also be willing to undertake a placement at Resthaven during their program if the opportunity arises and be willing to speak constructively and positively about the important work that nurses do in aged care.

Rural Reconnect
Grants
Fourteen grants are available to students from a rural or isolated area who have relocated to Adelaide to study full-time and are undertaking a professional experience placement in one the following disciplines: Education, Health Sciences, Nursing or Midwifery.
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, be financially disadvantaged and have lived in a rural or isolated area for at least four years prior to commencing university. Applicants must be undertaking their placement in a rural area in the year that they apply for the grant. Please note that the grants will not be awarded retrospectively.
Applicants must provide a personal written statement detailing the location and duration of their rural placement and their future career goals. Preference may be given to applicants who are undertaking a rural placement greater than four consecutive weeks.
Applicants who are receiving financial assistance from the Spencer Gulf Rural Health School are not eligible to apply.
Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial disadvantage, academic merit (GPA) and a personal written statement. Recipients will also be invited to participate in research and evaluation.

Vacation Research Bursary Program
The Centre for Rural Health and Community Development (CRHaCD) is a UniSA
funded research centre and a joint venture between the UniSA Centre for
Regional Engagement (CRE) and the Spencer Gulf Rural Health School (SGRHS).
It is offering up to four bursaries to encourage students to gain some
research experience working with established researchers at the Whyalla
campus of UniSA during the summer vacation.
The bursaries provide an opportunity for students of health and related
disciplines (e.g. Social Work) to live and work in the country for an
extended period during the summer vacation. Students will work as part of
research teams on existing research projects underway at the Whyalla campus.
CRHaCD areas of interest include population and public health, Aboriginal
health, health program evaluation, community development (health) social
care and palliative care. Bursaries will be offered for a minimum of four
weeks between November and February. Undergraduate students or students in
Graduate Entry programs offered by the UniSA division of Health Sciences or
studying nursing in Whyalla are eligible to apply.
Conditions and Criteria:
- Undergraduate students or students in Graduate Entry programs in health and related disciplines (eg social work). From any of the SA universities will be eligible.
- Undergraduate students must have completed the second year of their undergraduate program.
- Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in research.
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
- The bursary will not be offered if there are no suitable applicants.
Value: The bursary provides a travel subsidy of up to $150 for bus
fare or own vehicle fuel. Furnished accommodation will be provided for the
entire stay at no cost to students. Students will also receive a living
allowance of $350.00 per week for the duration of the placement.
The SGRHS will meet all costs associated with the specific project including
project travel expenses and costs associated with other directed activities
(e.g. cultural awareness field trips).

Pathology Regional Scholarship
SA Pathology will fund two scholarships to students in the fourth year of
Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine.
To be eligible:
- students must be in their fourth year studying fulltime in the Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine, and are undertaking the Clinical Practice component of the program, and are not already a scholarship holder.
- students must be Australian Citizen or Permanent residents.
Scholarship recipients will be required to take take up to12 months
appointment in a regional SA Pathology laboratory as negotiated with the
Head Regional Services (SA Pathology).

Institute Vacation Grants
This grant is intended to encourage students to gain experience in research and to form links with staff within the Sansom Institute, adjunct appointments and with collaborating institutions.
Each grant will support a student to undertake a 6 week project involving health or medical based research. Students may be placed in any research grouping of the Sansom Institute or at a collaborating institution.
The grant is open to students who have successfully completed a minimum of the second year of any undergraduate program offered within the Division of Health Sciences or the Bachelor of Science program at UniSA.

Spencer
Gulf Rural Health School (SGRHS) Honours Research Bursaries
SGRHS is offering four honours Bursaries to encourage research on topics related to rural, regional or remote health or Aboriginal health.
To be eligible to apply for the scholarships, students must:
- be citizens or permanent residents of Australia
- be enrolled as a full time student in an Honours Program within the Division of Health Sciences at the University of South Australia, including Whyalla campus
- be undertaking a research project with a regional/rural/remote health or Aboriginal health focus undertake some field work/data collection outside of metropolitan Adelaide; and
- be supervised by at least one member of the SGRHS of Whyalla campus academic staff who may act as a principal or co-supervisor
Applicants will be assessed on academic merit. Bursary will not be offered if there are no suitable applicants.
Each scholarship will provide:
- $4,000 for the year
- free accommodation for field work, if required
- up to two return economy bus fares for Adelaide or other SA town to the project town; and
- up to $200 for project sundries (project materials, travel and costs) including printing of project report.
Recipients are required to:
- submit a copy of their thesis to SGRHS
- complete an evaluation at the conclusion of the project
- deliver a seminar to the staff of SGRHS at the conclusion of the project; and
- will be encouraged to disseminate the results of their project in a peer reviewed journal or at a relevant scientific or professional meeting
Value: $4,000 for the year plus assistance with travel, accommodation and project costs
