Conference Scholarship for Students

The School of Health Sciences Conference Scholarship provides financial support for students to present papers or posters at local or international conferences with the aim to facilitate student dissemination of new knowledge and provide student networking opportunities.

Scholarship for continuing studentsIndigenous Leaders in Community Health Development Scholarship

This Scholarship is to provide support for up to 3 Australian Indigenous scholars studying either the one-year Bachelor of Health Science/Applied Science (Honours) program at the University of South Australia or the Graduate Certificate Health Science (Research Methodologies) at the University of South Australia and/or another agreed prescribed study program incorporating courses at the University of South Australia and from another Australian tertiary institution on a full-time basis leading to entry into a full-time PhD program.

Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to up to 3 Indigenous students who have achieved a high level of knowledge and skills in the basic public health disciplines of epidemiology, biostatistics, qualitative methods, measures of health outcomes, health promotion theory and practice, public health nutrition, quality improvement and project management as well as a basic understanding of the principles of health economics. Applicants will have a gained a broad understanding of the Indigenous health system in Australia.

Applicants will be ranked on:

Applicants must be willing to be enrolled on a full time basis in the one year Bachelor of Health Science/Applied Science (Honours) program or the Graduate Certificate in Health Science (Research Methodologies) program at the University of South Australia.

The Scholarships will not be offered if there are no suitable applicants.

Each scholarship recipient will receive a stipend of $56,750 as well as the cost of fees for the Bachelor of Health Science/Applied Science (Honours) program or the Graduate Certificate in Health Science (Research Methodologies) program.

Joint Pharmacy Registrar Clinical Training Scholarship

The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is working in collaboration with SA Health to develop and pilot an innovative Advanced Practitioner Clinical Doctorate Program. In its final form the joint program will combine clinical training as a Pharmacy Registrar under the Master of Clinical Pharmacy Program, before commencing research training by undertaking a PhD Degree.

Sansom Pharmacy Fund and School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences will fund 6 scholarships to fulltime students enrolled in the Master of Clinical Pharmacy.

Eligible candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the selection panel. The criteria for the interview will be demonstrated academic record, communication skills, drive for a career in pharmacy practitioner-research, a passion for improved pharmacy patient outcomes, and commitment to fulltime postgraduate study. Successful candidates will enrol or continue their fulltime enrolment in the UniSA Masters of Clinical Pharmacy Program.

Application method:
Candidates apply for an advertised places in the PO2/PO3 Advanced Practitioner Clinical Doctorate Programme with SA Health based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

They are required to submit a written application and attend an interview with the Selection Panel.

Master of Dietetics Scholarship

The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences will award a Master of Dietetics Scholarship valued at $5,000 to all domestic students enrolled in the Master of Dietetics in 2011.

Scholarships will be paid in nine fortnightly instalments during the first half of the university year

Value: $5,000 or pro-rata dependent on enrolment load paid in 9 fortnightly instalments commencing from 2011.

Rural Reconnect Grants

Fourteen grants are available to students from a rural or isolated area who have relocated to Adelaide to study full-time and are undertaking a professional experience placement in one the following disciplines: Education, Health Sciences, Nursing or Midwifery.

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, be financially disadvantaged and have lived in a rural or isolated area for at least four years prior to commencing university. Applicants must be undertaking their placement in a rural area in the year that they apply for the grant. Please note that the grants will not be awarded retrospectively.

Applicants must provide a personal written statement detailing the location and duration of their rural placement and their future career goals. Preference may be given to applicants who are undertaking a rural placement greater than four consecutive weeks.

Applicants who are receiving financial assistance from the Spencer Gulf Rural Health School are not eligible to apply.

Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial disadvantage, academic merit (GPA) and a personal written statement. Recipients will also be invited to participate in research and evaluation.
