Results entry
Grades can be recorded in grade rosters by the Medici web interface, the Medici client interface, or uploading grades directly into grade rosters from electronic class lists.
There are two levels of result entry access. These are 'Grade', which allows results to be entered but not approved, and 'Approve', which allows results to be both entered and approved. The level of results entry access for each staff member who is to enter results is a school-based decision.
When results have been entered into the grade rosters they are posted to the students record and will be available for Academic Review. An automated process posts all approved grade rosters overnight through the grading period.

X Notation
The X notation was introduced in January 2006, to indicate to academic staff which students have a Deferred Assessment, and to prevent Academic Review being conducted on students who have yet to finish their course.

- Processes for Deferred application on Compassionate Grounds (DOC 33kb)

X Notation FAQs
What do I need to do with the X?
Nothing- it is simply a flag for academics to let them know the student has a deferred.
Can I delete the X from the online result entry?
No- if you save the grade roster without an X that has already been entered, it will reappear alongside the grade you have entered.
Will Students see the X?
No- it will still appear as a notation, e.g., 41X will appear as an F2 or X will appear as an I.
Is there a format that the X has to be entered in as?
Yes- the mark must go before the X, e.g. 41X, P1X.
Is there further information on X?
Yes- in the Assessment Policy and Procedure Manual
Further questions can be directed to Exams and Results on ext 22755.
