Nutritional Physiology Research Centre
UniSA’s Nutritional Physiology Research Centre (NPRC) aims to optimise
human health through research examining cardiovascular, metabolic,
anti-inflammatory and mental health benefits of diet and physical activity.
Headed by Professor Peter Howe, the NPRC has state-of-the-art clinical
facilities at UniSA’s City East campus, where research staff and
postgraduate students conduct trials examining the physiological effects of
a range of bioactive nutrients, both alone and in conjunction with regular
exercise.
A member of the Australian Technology Network’s Centre for Metabolic
Fitness, the NPRC has research partnerships with universities, hospitals,
the CSIRO and the food industry, and is supported by research contracts with
food companies, government and Cooperative Research Centres, as well as by
grants from the Australian Research Council, the National Health and Medical
Research Council, the National Heart Foundation/Beyond Blue and Diabetes
Australia.
