Various UniSA services are available to help Sansom Institute researchers access and negotiate external funding opportunities. They include:
Research and Innovation
Services
Provides detailed information on a range of external funding sources,
including ARC and NHMRC grants, other Australian grants (such as Heart
Foundation, Rotary, etc) and international funding opportunities. Useful
resources include a
grants calendar
and funding database.
Sansom Institute Manager
Rachael Penning-Bourne is a good first point of contact for Sansom Institute
researchers seeking external funds. She provides advice and referrals on
nationally competitive funding schemes (category 1), commercial agreements,
research proposals, business plans etc. Rachael also provides input around
infrastructure and resource issues for grants and has a key role in
developing strategic links with potential internal and external
collaborators aligning with the Sansom Institute’s strategic direction.
Business
Development Unit
The Division of Health Sciences’ Business Development Unit provides advice
on contract research opportunities, preparing proposals and tenders, and
other externally funded opportunities. The BDU also undertakes a range of
project management responsibilities including negotiating contract terms,
invoicing, financial statements and project closure.
Division Research Coordinator
Charlotte Ferrier can provide advice on the guidelines and UniSA application
processes for scholarships, both internal and external schemes, and
nationally competitive funding schemes (particularly NHMRC and ARC).
