Grants and awards
The Sansom Institute's Research Training Group offers a number of grants and
awards aimed at recognising achievement and encouraging excellence in
postgraduate research.
While some acknowledge existing accomplishments, others are designed to
enable students to expand their outlook, for example by attending
conferences or pursuing collaborative research opportunities.
Sansom Institute awards include:
- Sansom All-Round Postgraduate Achievement Award - an annual award recognising the broad contribution of a postgraduate research student during candidature
- Sansom Career Exploration Awards - two annual awards to encourage senior postgraduate students to pursue research collaboration and/or postdoctoral career opportunities
- Sansom Medal - a prestigious annual award recognising originality and excellence in the research of a PhD graduate
- Sansom Publication Awards - two annual awards aimed at rewarding quality research publications during postgraduate candidature
Sansom Institute grants include:
- HDR Publication Grants - an unlimited number of grants awarded to recognise postgraduate students who publish in peer-reviewed journals during candidature
- HDR Travel Grants - a number of grants available to encourage HDR candidates to present their research at national and international conferences
