Professor Caroline McMillen, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President: Research and Innovation

A warm welcome to everyone visiting our Research quality, innovation and engagement website. This website aims to assist UniSA staff and students to understand the numerous factors that will impact on all researchers, no matter what their career stage. The fluid nature of the research environment will necessitate regular updating of the site.

In preparing for the foreshadowed RQF, we took a very detailed look at the quality and outcomes of research carried out across all discipline areas between 2001 and 2006. It is now critical to build on this deeper understanding and maintain momentum. We must develop strategies in research and innovation that position our researchers and institution to meet the challenges of the Federal Government's new research agenda.

REQUIEM Working Group

Our Research Quality, Innovation and Engagement Metrics (REQUIEM) Working Group will work on a range of research issues throughout 2008, including the use of metrics which best serve as measures of research quality, innovation and engagement.

National developments

The Rudd Government's Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative will play a key role in 2008. Assessing the quality of publications section supports UniSA researchers to respond to this increased emphasis on publishing in high quality journals and getting cited. In 2009, the Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classification (ANZSRC) system (PDF file, 4.5mb) will replace RFCD and SEO codes.
