Introduction    The Building Capacity for Understanding and Working with Adult Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Assault Conference is being offered as part of the Adult Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Assault:  Training, Evaluation, Community Education and Seminar Series Project - Phase Two.  This project has been funded by The Department of Health, Men's Health and Wellbeing Unit in partnership with the Research and Education Unit on Gendered Violence (University of South Australia), UnitingCare Wesley, Adelaide and Women's Health Statewide, with support from Respond South Australia.

Conference Aim    The conference aims to bring together a mix of experienced trainers, human service professionals and workshop presenters.  The conference will address a variety of topics on a broad range of issues, including research, emerging trends, innovative programs, responses and practice models relating to Adult Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Assault.  The aims of the conference are:

  • To provide a broad overview of childhood sexual abuse

  • To showcase best practice models and techniques in relation to working with adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse

  • To increase professionals' understandings about the prevalence of and issues associated with males as victims of childhood sexual abuse

  • To enhance professionals' capacity to respond appropriately to men who have been subjected to childhood sexual abuse
