Supervising at UniSA is offered four times throughout the year, with one workshop devoted to the supervision of Honours Degree students. For all sessions, attendance is required for the first part of the day which runs from 9am-1.15pm. During this time, policies, procedures and other important information will be presented. Attendance in the afternoon is voluntary but highly recommended for new supervisors. Additional support for HDR supervisors and students

The University of South Australia has introduced an employee assistance program to provide all staff and their families with confidential, employer-funded assistance in the areas of professional counselling and referral services. The service is available to assist with a range of problems which may impact on work performance including (but not limited to) stress, managing change and interpersonal conflict. For further information please see the Employee Assistance Program

Additionally, the Counselling Team located in the Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) design and deliver the Interpersonal Strategies for Successful Supervision Series for higher degree by research supervisors. The series is constitutive of 3 workshops focused on negotiating the HDR student/supervisor relationship, conflict resolution and negotiating differences with HDR students, and strategies for dealing with writers block and  procrastination. Please see the hotlink above for further information about this series.

Undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree by research students who are experiencing work-related or personal issues that are interfering with their study can see a counsellor. Counsellors are located in the Learning and Teaching Unit on each of the 4 campuses. For further information please see  Counselling (Learning and Teaching Unit).
