Life after the PhD - a workshop for higher degree by research students and staff in the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences

Part 1: Preparing for Academic Practice

This session explores some of the key issues involved in preparing for academic practice in the contemporary higher education environment. The session aimed to increase awareness of key roles involved in being an academic. Insights into the role and responsibilities of being a post-doctoral research fellow were further provided in the ECR panel.

Part 2: Preparing for the Applied Professions  

This session explores some of the key issues involved in preparing for applied professions in industry. Students were provided with information concerning how the labour market operates and how this affects job-search strategies, and the importance of targeting job search. Students were also provided with advice on how to prepare a professional profile for self-marketing purposes.
