Celebrating a minerals research milestone
UniSA’s
Ian Wark Research Institute (The Wark™) and global minerals research
body AMIRA International held a dinner at Adelaide’s Next Generation
Health & Racquet Club in late May to celebrate the 20th anniversary
of the pioneering P260 project.
Since 1988, the project has been conducted with the aim of improving flotation of minerals in the minerals processing industry, which has applications across other industry sectors.
"The accumulated knowledge (from the P260 project series) is enormous," Director of The Wark™, Laureate Professor John Ralston said.
"Perhaps that explains why, far from diminishing, the gains from each phase of research appear to gather momentum."
Past and current researchers were among representatives from sponsor companies such as BHP Billiton, Anglo Platinum, Oxiana Resources and Rio Tinto who attended the dinner.
Many of the project’s international sponsors also took part in the P260E Sponsors Meeting, which coincided with the anniversary celebrations.
