'Cities in the Asia-Pacific region experience rapid growth, a defining feature with profound implications for people everywhere.’
Close to 70 per cent of the world population will live in urban areas by the year 2050. The Asia-Pacific region in particular will experience rapid urban growth over the next 20 years. The China-Australia Centre for Sustainable Urban Development (CACSUD) is committed to planning and managing sustainable growth in cities in the Asia-Pacific region.
The China Australia Centre for Sustainable Urban Development is a research partnership between the University of South Australia and Tianjin University in China. Its mission is to develop innovative strategies and technologies for sustainable urban development in the Asia-Pacific region. Through collaboration with governments, the private sector and global research institutions the Centre’s aim is to respond to many pressing problems confronting urbanisation in the Asia-Pacific region, in particular issues related to uncontrolled growth, pollution and waste.
