Rhodes
Scholarship
Applications for the South Australian Rhodes Scholarships are invited annually. The successful applicant(s) will take up their position at Oxford in or around September.
Cecil Rhodes listed in that section of his Will in which he attempted to define the type of Scholar he was seeking: Literary and scholastic attainment; fondness of and success in outdoor sports; qualities of truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship; exhibition of moral force of character and instincts to lead and take an interest in one's contemporaries. The Will also directs that 'no student shall be qualified or disqualified for election to a Scholarship on account of race or religious opinions'.

Fulbright
Scholarships
The Australian-American Fulbright Commission promotes and supports educational and cultural exchange between Australia and America. Valued at up to $A40,000, the Fulbright Awards are open to Australian citizens to undertake research or study in the United States.
Postgraduate Scholarships
For study or research (8-12 months) towards an American degree or research related to an Australian degree. Up to eleven Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarships are offered in all fields of study, including the following specific awards:

Churchill
Fellowships
A Churchill Fellowship is the award of an opportunity through the provision of financial support, to enable Australian citizens from all walks of life to travel overseas to undertake an analysis, study or investigation of a project or an issue that cannot be readily undertaken in Australia. Currently the average Fellowship cost is $25,000.
Australian citizens over the age of 18 are eligible to apply for a
Churchill Fellowship. Applicants must be able to complete a minimum of 4
weeks overseas travel to complete their research.

Cambridge
Australia Trust Scholarships
The Cambridge Australia Trust, in collaboration with the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, awards ten PhD scholarships and one coursework Master's scholarship each year, commencing in October.
These scholarships are awarded to Australian graduates of outstanding academic merit to study at the University of Cambridge. How to apply

Australia to America Educational Fellowships
The American Australian Association promotes educational exchange and seeks to strengthen scientific, technology and business ties between the United States and Australia . To promote this cause, the Association offers individual Fellowships of up to US$25,000 each year in its Australia to USA Program.
The Fellowships are offered to Australian fellows undertaking advanced (graduate and post doctoral) research/study in the United States in the following fields:

Macquarie Group Stanford Fellowship
The Macquarie Group of Companies offers a Stanford Graduate School of Business Fellowship in the amount of US$50,000. Applications are open to Australian business students admitted to the Stanford Graduate School of Business. This fellowship is to support part of the costs of conducting research or undertaking MBA, PhD or postdoctoral studies in business at Stanford.

Scientific Exchange Foundation (AISEF)
Postgraduate Fellowship Award
The Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation (AISEF) was established in 1997, with the specific vision to nurture ties between the academic institutions of Australia and Israel.
The Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation serves the academic communities of Australia and Israel, and the enrichment, which the cooperation and collaboration between the two countries bring, can be shared by all. The Foundation established an award for postgraduate students in Australian and Israeli universities to undertake part of their research for their PhD in matching institutions in Israel and Australia. The award, AU$5,000 for a period of up to six months, has been awarded to nine Australian and Israeli students. The funds for this award have come from private donations.

Australian Academy of Science
Visit the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
The Australian Academy of Science invites Expressions of Interest from junior scientists who are no more than 30 years of age to visit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States of America. Proposals in any health-related field of natural science will be considered. This scheme is funded by the Adam J. Berry Memorial Fund and is operated in collaboration with the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health. See the National Institutes of Health website for a list of institutes.
Applicants should be either in the first two years of a PhD degree or equivalent, or have completed a Masters or a Bachelors with Honours degree, or be in the final semester of a Masters or a Bachelors with Honours degree.
The duration of the visit is expected to be between six and thirteen weeks.

In a context of increased mobility and globalisation, a new programme of bursaries has been set up by the by Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI)
IN-Wallonie-Bruxelles International (IN.WBI) bursaries of excellence is aimed at foreign nationals that have graduated from a foreign higher education institution at master level who wish to follow a specialisation or research in the Universities of Wallonia-Brussels.
This programme is aimed at foreign graduates at master level or researchers to complete programmes of the 3rd cycle or post-doctorate studies in a University of Wallonia-Brussels in targeted domains or sectors, in particular with the centres of excellence of the Universities of the French Community. Any other domain may be taken into consideration, whether it relates to human, fundamental or applied sciences.

DAAD
scholarships and funding
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a joint organisation of the German institutions of higher education. The purpose of the DAAD is to promote relations between these German institutions and higher education institutions abroad, primarily through the exchange of students, academics and scientists.
- The scholarships offered by the DAAD are awarded to advanced students, young higher education graduates and academics from all fields of science and humanities as well as from fields of music and art.
- As a rule, the age limit for most programmes is 32. Study beginners cannot be considered for support.
- Applicants who have been resident in Germany for longer than one year at the time of application cannot be considered.

Environmental
Research and Education Foundation, USA
Scholarships program
The Environmental Research and Education Foundation invites applications for its scholarships. These support the work of students of any nationality interested in excellence in waste management research and education. Applications will be considered from those who will be this year or are now full-time PhD students with a clearly demonstrated interest in waste management research. Funding of up to $12,000 per year is available, renewable for two additional years.

Finnish
Government Scholarships
The Finnish Government offers scholarships to Australians for postgraduate studies, research and teaching for 3-9 months at a higher education institution or public research institute in Finland. It should be noted that in Finland Master's courses are not considered as postgraduate studies.
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- intend to pursue post-graduate studies as a visiting student, participate in a research project or teach at a higher education institution or public research institute in Finland; priority will be given to doctoral studies
- have established contact with the Finnish receiving institution before applying
- have a letter of invitation from the academic supervisor in Finland
- have earned at least a Master-level degree before applying
- not have spent more than one year already at a Finnish higher education institution immediately before the intended scholarship period in Finland
- be able to give proof of sufficient skills in speaking and writing the language needed in study/research

Frank
Knox Memorial Fellowships
Up to three Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships will be awarded to students from Australia for graduate study at Harvard University in academic year 2007-2008.
To qualify to apply for a Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship applicants must:
- be citizens of Australia at the time of application and normally resident in Australia
- have studied or be studying for a degree at an Australian university and have spent at least two of the last four years at university at the time of application
- have graduated no earlier than 2007 or will graduate before September 2009.

M&N Domansky Trust Fund
The fund has been established to provide grants on an annual basis to non-Jewish Australian graduates or postgraduates. The purpose of the grant is for research, study or gaining professional experience in Israel for periods of up to one year.
Eligibility will be decided by the trustees on the basis of merit, and priority will be given to persons working in the field of bio-climatology related to human ill health. However, applications in areas of health including mental health, human development, family as a system, conflict resolution at the international, national or group level or human rights will also be considered.

in Holland
Holland (The Netherlands) is an internationally oriented and innovative country located in the heart of Europe. Holland offers an international environment, quality and diversity in education and research.
The Netherlands Student Grantfinder is an online search engine containing information on a range of Dutch scholarships for foreign students.
Holland has a broad number of disciplines in which it has a leading role. The ones that are particularly well known around the world are: management & business studies, agricultural sciences, medicine, civil engineering, remote sensing, arts & architecture.
- Depending on the discipline, master's programmes at universities, universities of professional education and institutes for International Education will last one to two years (60-120 credits).
- The doctorate (PhD) is only offered at universities and takes at least four years. A master degree is compulsory for admission.
