The Jack Loader Research Scholarship will be awarded as an add-on to other
postgraduate awards such as the Australian Postgraduate Award. Its purpose is to
encourage postgraduate, research into dementia, in particular Alzheimer's
Disease, and related disorders and/or the consequences of these diseases or
disorders and as additional financial support for a suitably qualified graduate
undertaking a program of study leading to a research higher degree at one of the
South Australian universities.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the relevance of their proposed research project to Alzheimer's Disease or related dementia or to the care provided for someone diagnosed with dementia and, without restricting the possible disciplinary areas, might fall within areas such as clinical medicine; physical, social and behavioural sciences; pharmacology; human biology or information technology. It might include areas of study such as assistive technology; reducing carer stress; medications; dementia care; reducing the risk of dementia; nutrition; or acute, residential and community care.
To receive the scholarship an applicant will need to show that they have been accepted for admission to an appropriate faculty at one of the South Australian universities.
