Endeavour Awards

The Australian Government is committed to providing opportunities for high-achieving international students, researchers and executives to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia.

The Endeavour International Awards provide full financial support for international students for up to 3.5 years to undertake a postgraduate qualification at a Masters or PhD level either by coursework or research in any field of study in Australia.

Summary of awards available - includes Endeavour Postgraduate Awards, Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards, Endeavour Research Fellowships (short term), Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowships (short term) and Endeavour Europe Awards (short term).

Endeavour Awards for Japan

The Australian Government is making 10 Endeavour Awards available for Japan each year on an ongoing basis, with a focus in 2012 on the affected areas. The 10 Endeavour Awards are available each year for both Japanese citizens to travel to Australia, and for Australians to travel to Japan to undertake study, research or professional development. 

In 2012, priority will be given to Japanese citizens in the affected areas, where there may be a benefit from an exchange with Australia. Australian students or professionals will also be able to undertake study or professional development at institutions in Japan's affected areas.

How to apply

  1. Check the eligibility criteria and application guidelines for the Endeavour Postgraduate Award or Prime Minister's Australia Asia Award (or other award).
  2. You must first apply for admission to a research degree at a host institution (UniSA). UniSA must receive your application, including supporting documents, by date TBA for 2012. Applications for AusAid and Endeavour  Award received after this date will be processed, however we cannot guarantee letters of offer will be provided prior to the AusAid and Endeavour Award closing dates.
  3. Apply online and post your supporting documents to UniSA's Graduate Research Centre
  4. Please advise the Graduate Research Centre by email of your application and include details of the award(s) you wish to apply for.
  5. If your application to UniSA is successful, you will receive a formal admission letter for entry to a Masters or PhD program.
  6. You can then submit an application to the Australian Government for an Endeavour Postgraduate Award or Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Award  (or other award) – the opening date for applications is 1 April 2012, closing date TBA. You will need to include your formal conditional admission letter from UniSA with your application.

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)

There is usually one annual selection round in each country. Each Country Program has different selection processes and timelines. Further information on individual country processes can be obtained from the Australian Diplomatic Mission in the country of citizenship or from the link to contact information

It is not necessary to have a formal offer of admission when you apply to AusAID. Admission to your nominated institution and program is requested by AusAID via the post (see country specific contact details) once awards have been made.

  3. Please advise the Graduate Research Centre by email and include details of the award(s) for which you have lodged an application.

Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) - Scholarships

AusAID will accept ALA Scholarship applications for the 2012 academic year by closing date TBA for 2012.

Your application for admission to a research degree at UniSA, including supporting documents and two academic referees reports, must be received by UniSA by date TBA for 2012 to allow time for assessment and a formal offer of admission if you are successful.
