The
Advanced Community Care Association (ACCA) was formed to promote and
implement safe alternatives to unnecessary hospitalisation, working with
non-government organisations providing aged care and other community
services, to achieve the following 'objects':
Following the dissolution of ACCA in late 2006, the Board of ACCA resolved to endow a full PhD scholarship at the University of South Australia, in fields related to the objects of the association.
To be eligible for the Advanced Community Care scholarship, an applicant must enrol to commence their studies as a full-time student in the Division of Health Sciences at the University of South Australia in the year the scholarship is advertised.
The scholarship will be awarded for a 3-year period with an additional 6-month extension by negotiation. The successful applicant must not be currently enrolled in a PhD program or have been previously enrolled for a research degree, and must be eligible for the Research Training Scheme (RTS)
The scholarship will be equivalent to the value of an Australian Postgraduate Award, as determined by DEEWR, and will be indexed annually in line with DEEWR determinations. In 2009, an APA stipend is valued at $20,427. In addition, the recipient will receive a Division of Health Sciences research scholarship top-up of $6,000 per annum.
Applications will be made as part of the University of South Australia's annual scholarship application process, and the successful applicant will be selected on the basis of merit and the alignment of their proposed research project with the objects of ACCA, subject to the approval of a representative of the ACCA Board.
