Examination checklist
The following checklist should be read in conjunction with the Academic regulations for higher degrees by research - in particular, see clauses 14 and 15.

Thesis presentation guidelines
Theses are to be presented according to academic regulations. In particular, please refer to the Appendices for detailed requirements for the presentation of print and/or electronic versions of the examination thesis.

Theses may be presented in either electronic or printed form, depending
on the agreement of the examiner as to their preferred medium in which to
assess the thesis (see below). Theses submitted in electronic format should
be in software compatible for the examiner’s computer. Please check with your research degree coordinator that presentation in
electronic format is acceptable in your area before proceeding with this.

Editing resources
Before you submit your thesis you will need to edit it. The following resources are available.
- Editing of Research Theses by Professional Editors (Word doc) (Deans and Directors of Graduate Studies website) provides guidelines for what is acceptable when theses are edited by professional editors
- Editor Software provides products to help you with writing and editing, including StyleWriter - the Plain English Editor. This software is not free but there is a 30 day free trial
- Institute of Professional
Editors (IPEd) links to editorial organisations in each state of
Australia providing contact details for professional editors and cites
editing standards that identify and define the knowledge and skills
expected of experienced editors in Australia. Check with your area to
see if your budget allocation allows for this service.

Printing your thesis
For detailed information on printing your thesis (including setting up to print two sided), go to the Word for thesis writing online workshop (staff and student access only).
Using a POD Centre
Print on Demand (POD) Centres, located at City West (and other) campuses,
are designed to provide 'Premium Printing Services' for students, which will
complement the printing services already available in the Library and
Computer pools. You can
use the POD Centre to print copies of your thesis.
