Resolving progress issues in higher degrees by research
UniSA Research Degrees Committee has produced the following
flowchart to provide guidance in resolving grievances related to
progress issues in higher degrees by research. The chart is based on the
University academic regulations and processes that describe how to
resolve such grievances.
Academic guidelines for
higher degrees by research state:
- 'A candidate shall have the right to discuss any matter
pertaining to the progress of the candidature with the Principal
Supervisor, the Research Degrees Coordinator or the relevant Chair
of the Division/Institute Research Management Committee (or
equivalent), as appropriate, to resolve any impediment to that
progress.' (7.2.9). and
- 'Where there are concerns about a candidate’s progress, the
Principal Supervisor and the Research Degree Coordinator may require
the candidate to undertake additional reviews and report of
progress.' (7.2.8)
The Research Degrees Committee acknowledges that each case of
unsatisfactory progress is different and therefore intends this
flowchart as a guide only. PDF
