Types of programs

Doctor of Philosophy

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs provide training and education with the objective of producing graduates with the capacity to conduct research independently at a high level of originality and quality. By the end of the degree program, the PhD student ought to be capable of conceiving, designing and carrying to completion a research program without supervision. Four years full-time equivalent

Masters by research

Masters by research programs aim to train students in analysing the literature, relevant artefacts and debate in the substantive area of the thesis topic at an advanced level; research methodology and techniques and their critical evaluation, appropriate to the field of study; and the application of such methodology by conducting a specified program of research under appropriate supervision. Two years full-time equivalent

Professional doctorate

A professional doctorate is a rigorous program of advanced study and research, designed specifically to meet the needs of industry and professional groups. Professional doctorates usually consist of a blend of coursework and research. Four years full-time equivalent
