The University's research emphasises the creation and application of knowledge in collaboration with government, industry and professional partners. Internal research policies facilitate the development of research institutes and centres with the breadth of expertise necessary to provide solutions to multidisciplinary real world problems.
Research education is an important aspect of the University's research effort. Students are encouraged to work within research institutes and centres, ensuring access to researchers who are leaders in their chosen fields and providing opportunities to work on multidisciplinary projects.
Research and Innovation Services (RIS) has a role in:
- research policy implementation and interpretation
- management and administration of research grants and fellowships
- development of research within the University
- encouragement and facilitation of research activity
- management and administration of research degrees and scholarships
- collection, maintenance and provision of research and consultancy information
- monitoring ethical practice in research
- provision of contract advice.
