What is the rejoinder process?
The selection processes for Discovery Projects may include assessment by external peer assessors. Where the ARC seeks external assessments, applicants and nominated participants may be given the opportunity to submit rejoinders. Rejoinder may assist applicants and nominated participants to clarify any misunderstanding or difference of opinion about perceived weaknesses in the proposal. It also provides an important feedback mechanism that may help researchers in future proposals. The assessors' reports and the rejoinders may assist the ARC College of Experts or SAC members in assessing proposals.
Over the coming weeks you will be receiving external assessments for your Discovery Project application submitted to the ARC earlier this year. To help you understand the rejoinder process better and to provide advice on how to write a written response to your external assessor reports, Research and Innovation Services will be holding two information sessions on " How to prepare your ARC Discovery Project Rejoinder" as follows:
Information Session 1
| Date: | 10 June 2009 |
| Presenters: | Professor Rob Short, College of
Expert Member for Engineering and Environmental Sciences Professor Andrea Gerson, College of Expert Member for Physics, Chemistry and Geosciences |
Information Session 2

ARC Discovery Indigenous Researcher Development Scheme seminar
The Discovery-Indigenous Researcher Development Scheme provides support for Indigenous Researchers to undertake research projects which may lead to an advance in the understanding of a subject or contribute to the solution of an important practical problem. The scheme also provides funding for research projects undertaken by Indigenous Researchers as part of the requirements of their postgraduate research degree.
To encourage, advise and support potential applicants, a seminar was held on Monday 20 April at City West campus. This seminar especially targeted current and prospective indigenous researchers, including postgraduate students. Speakers included Associate Professor Irene Watson (Unaipon School) and Professor Peter Sullivan, Monash University.
