UniSA wins award for excellence at the 2004 ARMS conference

Mark Gorringe, ISO Quality Officer, accepting the awardAt the 2004 Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) Annual Conference held in Fremantle, Western Australia, UniSA won the inaugural award for 'Excellence in Research Management/Administrative Practice'. The excellence award recognises outstanding contributions that have enhanced the profession of research management and administration.

Mr Mark Gorringe, ISO Quality Officer, received the award on behalf of a team involving staff from UniSA. The award recognised the development and management of the University’s ISO9001: 2000 Quality Management System, which to the best of our knowledge is the only Australian example of a research management system accredited to ISO9001. In receiving the award Mark commented that the award is testimony to the University of South Australia being an organisation that is both innovative and creative, creating an environment that fosters and encourages its people to challenge traditional approaches in their endeavour to think of new ways of doing things.
