Innovation review

On 22 January 2008 the minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, announced a review of the national innovation system. The review was conducted by an expert panel chaired by Dr Terry Cutler. The Report Venturous Australia is now available

Innovation plays a vital role in increasing Australia's productivity and strengthening our international competitiveness. The establishment of this review demonstrates the new Australian Government's commitment to supporting innovation across the Australian economy.

Senator Kim Carr also announced a review of the Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program as part of the broader review of the national innovation system. On 5 August, the Government released Collaborating to a purpose: Review of the Cooperative Research Centres Program (PDF file, 2.1mb).

The Review of the National Innovation System has now been completed. The report was released on 9 September 2008. Individual chapters of the Report

Review of the Cooperative Research Centres

As part of the review process, a separate review of the Cooperative Research Centres was undertaken.

Future Fellowships

Senator the Hon Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, has called for interested Australians to respond to a consultation paper on the development of the Government's new Future Fellowships scheme.
