Category 1 grants

Research income received by the University is classified as either Category 1, 2, 3 or 4 as defined by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC).

Research Capacity and Compliance in Research and Innovation Services is responsible for the pre and post award management of Category 1: Australian Competitive Grants.

• Category 1 consists only of those research schemes/programs listed on the Australian Competitive Grants Register (ACGR) for the relevant year
• Grants received from the Australian Government and not included in the ACGR may be eligible for inclusion in Category 2: Other Public Sector Research Income

Grants in most other categories (2, 3 and 4) are managed by your business development manager located within your division/institute.
