Interests RCLC flower

The RCLC conducts high quality and high impact research and consultancy, with an emphasis on the application of knowledge in collaboration with government, industry, commerce, the professions and community groups.

The research at the RCLC is generally interested in language and culture, and languages and cultures, particularly in interaction with social and professional life. We have four main areas of focus, within which much of our research is carried out:

As well as broad research interests in a wide range of languages and cultures and their interactions, the researchers at the RCLC have specific expertise in the six languages which are most widely taught in Australia, plus several other languages of high community importance: Chinese, English, French, German, Hellenic (Greek), Indonesian, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

The researchers of the RCLC have diverse backgrounds, with training in general and theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, educational linguistics, languages education at all levels, and more broadly in education.
