About the school

New Building at MagillThe School of Psychology is located at the City East and Magill campuses.

The School offers programs in the areas of Psychology and Counselling at various levels from Undergraduate to Postgraduate.

NEW IN 2008:  The School will be introducing a new skills-based Counselling and Interpersonal Skills major.  While doing your undergraduate Psychology degree at the School of Psychology, you can also study this new undergraduate study area as your sub-major of 6 courses, providing you with practical skills for your future career.  Counselling and Interpersonal Skills is also available as a major, sub-major or minor for students enrolled in other undergraduate programs.

The School's activities emphasise professional-vocational and applied psychology.  Hence the School's programs focus on skills based 'activities', as these apply to research, teaching and consultancy.

Research and consultancy interests of the School are in Health and Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Organisational Psychology, Work and Stress, Indigenous Australians, Counselling, Social and Community Psychology, and Behaviour Analysis.

A University Psychology Clinic is located at the City East Campus and is designed to offer a Clinical Psychology service to the University and wider community.  Master of Psychology (Clinical) students take their first practicum in the Clinic in their first year of study.

The School is also affiliated with the Centre for Applied Psychological Research at City East campus.
