About the school
Welcome to the School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy.
The School is a merger of the former School of Psychology and the former School of Social Work and Social Policy. The union of social science disciplines allows the School to offer cross-disciplinary studies as well as offer professional degrees.
The School provides high quality programs in psychological science, social work and the human services at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels which prepare graduates for a dynamic and changing society. Course teaching and continuing professional education is enhanced by collaboration and productive partnerships in teaching, practice and research.
A distinguishing characteristic of the School is our academic staff and expertise. Members of the School undertake research in a diverse range of topics such as stress in the workplace, the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in prisons, the reliability of internet-based information, fatigue management, psychology and working with indigenous peoples, sleep and brain plasticity, changing human attitudes to animal and habitat conservation, workplace bullying, the effects of the media on young people and much more.
The School's undergraduate degree in social work is also offered at the Centre for Regional Engagement, with its operation based at the Whyalla Campus and Mt Gambier Regional Centre.
