UniSA supports 'Closing the Gap'

UniSA has joined with more than 40 organisations and at last count, almost 120,000 individual Australians to sign a pledge to close the health gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Launched this month by OXFAM, the campaign is designed to raise awareness and commitment to making Indigenous health equity a reality within 25 years.

Right now there is a 17 year age gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

The campaign has some real targets including a pledge to increase Indigenous primary health funding and commitments to improving vital basics such as housing, nutrition and education and to building Indigenous control and participation in the delivery of health and other services.
