FAQs - using email to upload files
Answers to FAQs:
Q - what size files may be sent as email attachments?
A - "Large" files (with a total size greater than 3 or 4 Mb) should not be sent as Email attachments within UniSA. Such files can cause a variety of problems, and unpredictable results can occur. You should consider using our DocuShare file uploading services to send such files. (see FAQs - DocuShare for more information.). Alternatively, you could consider sending them on CD or DVD or other exchangeable media. (See FAQs - send files on exchangeable media ).
"Small" files (with a total size not greater than 3 or 4 Mb) can, however, be sent reliably to Document Services as email attachments.
Q - what information should I include in the "body" of the email when sending files as email attachments?
A - To avoid any delays in processing your order, please ensure that you always include the following information in the body of your email:
- the cost centre to which the job should be charged
- your contact information including a telephone number
- full details of your printing requirements, including number of copies, stock to be used, details of any covers, binding / finishing requirements, and any "special instructions" which may apply to the job.
- delivery requirements, including required delivery date
Idf any of the above information is missing, delays in processing your order are likely to occur.

Q - what "file types" may be sent?
A - PDF files are ideal. They are small, and their use will ensure that the integrity and and layout of your original document is preserved as far as possible.
MS Office files (Word, Powerpoint etc) or other application source files MAY also be used, but because of differences between the target printer when the document was created and font availability issues, occasionally re-pagination problems and / pr font substitution can occur. You are advised to request a "Proof Print" and check it carefully before confirming your print order.
