Answers to FAQs
Q - What is DocuShare?
A - DocuShare is a software application which runs on a server at Document Services. It provides registered DocuShare users with a very easy to use mechanism to upload files of any size to Document Services for processing and / or printing. Files of any sort may be uploaded via a standard web browser. There is no practical limit to the size of file which may be uploaded.
Q - Can anyone use DocuShare?
A - To access DocuShare you must become a registered DocuShare user. When you become a registered DocuShare user you are given a special username and password which you use to logon to the DocuShare service using your standard web browser. Once logged on you can make use of the very simple file uploading process.
Q - Why do registrations last a maximum of 10 days?
A - in practice, most clients need to use this service at infrequent intervals, eg to upload files for a particular printing project. Rather than tie up many separate DocuShare user accounts for long periods with details which are hardly used, we have found that our current system of "temporary" registrations works well for most users. When you apply to register as a DocuShare user, you can specify the number of days that you wish your registration to remain "open", between 2 and 10 days. If you are a regular, heavy user of our services, and feel that you would like to become a "permanent" DocuShare client, please call our Customer Services department on 830 26966 to discuss your requirements.
Q - Can I become a 'permanent' DocuShare client?
A - if you are a regular, heavy user of our DocuShare file upload services, and feel that you would benefit from becoming a 'permanent' DocuShare client, please call our Customer Services department on 830 26966 to discuss your requirements.
Q - is there a maximum file size which can be uploaded via DocuShare?
A - there is no limit specified as to the size of file which you can upload via DocuShare. Of course, the speed of your internet connection will sometimes define a practical limit to the size of files you might wish to upload. Clients within UniSA, and those who enjoy fast high speed (broadband) connectivity will find that there are few limits.
Q - Can I use DocuShare from outside of UniSA?
A - yes, DocuShare can be accessed from ANY computer has an internet connection (PC or MAC), using a standard (version 5 onwards) copy of MS Internet Explorer, and most other current browser software.
Q - Can I use DocuShare from my home computer via a dial-up (modem) or broadband internet connection?
A- yes, DocuShare is useable via ANY internet connection. However, slow links such as those experienced via a dial-up modem connection will mean that the time taken to complete uploads of large files could take several hours. If you only have a dial-up connection to the internet, DocuShare is still perfectly suitable for uploading small files. Faster broadband connections are better. For large files, a better option than using a dial-up modem connection might be to burn your files to CD or DVD.
