About myUniSA
myUniSA is a 'one stop shop' student portal which provides information and services to support students while studying at the University of South Australia.
myUniSA provides a single sign on personalized view of enrolment details, finances, email, resources and many other features. Students can also customize their portal by adding links to favourite websites.
Academic record
The my Academic record page displays all of your program and course information (including current and previous enrolments). You can also access details regarding credit transfer, program grade point average, result notices, graduations and other information relevant to your mode of study by selecting your program/course name. Record of study (also known as an 'unofficial transcript'), Results notices, Commonwealth Assistance Notices (CAN) and Enrolment Confirmation Notices (ECN) can also be found on this page.
Academic year calendar
Links are provided on the my Academic record page to the relevant academic year calendar which includes all the key dates for your study at UniSA.
Accessing myUniSA
myUniSA can be accessed using the link on the UniSA home page
or by using the URL: http://www.unisa.edu.au/myunisa/.
You will need to be currently enrolled and have a current username and password to logon to myUniSA. If you are having problems logging on contact the IT Help Desk.
Add/edit links
Used to add and edit links added to the my Links and Portal Links features on the home page of myUniSA.
Announcements
Student announcements appear on the home page. Announcements are either published to all students or to specific target groups such as transnational or research students. Only members of the target group will be able to view the announcements.
Submit requests to post announcements to the Student Portal via the Staff Portal.
AssignIT
To submit assignments online from myUniSA navigate to the Latest Assignments section of the home page and select the AssignIT link.
Assignments due two weeks prior and two weeks after the current date will display on the home page in the Latest Assignments section.
All assignments scheduled for a course, including those already submitted, can be found by viewing the course details from the homepage, my Current Studies and my Academic Record.
Any questions regarding your assignments should be directed to your course coordinator.
Browsers
myUniSA can be used with most web browsers - the only requirement being that it handles tables, cookies, JavaScript, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) communications. All processing and data verification is handled by our web servers, so that the application is not dependant on your browser settings. Although client side JavaScript is not required, increased functionality can be obtained by using a browser that is JavaScript compliant or by turning this feature on within your browser.
myUniSA is best viewed with a minimum screen resolution of 800x600 and 16-bit colour, although all functionality has been tested on the following browsers :

For the best results it is recommended that you use the latest, patched version of your preferred browser (we recommend Internet Explorer 7.0 or Mozilla Firefox 2.0 for Windows environments and Safari 3.2 for Macintosh environments). Browser and/or display problems should be reported - please state which browser, computer and operating system you are using.

Census date
A census date is the last date to withdraw from a course without incurring a debt and without any notation on your transcript. To find census dates for your courses open the Course details page which can be found on the homepage, my Current Studies and my Academic Record. The census date can be found under Class enrolments.

Change my password
To change your password go to the my Resources page and select Change my password on the right hand side under Related information.
The Change my password form will appear, fill in your details and select the Change my password button.
Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN)
The Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN) is provided to all enrolled Commonwealth supported and Commonwealth assisted students and shows details of your enrolment at the census date including:
- Courses in which you are enrolled
- Student contribution amounts
- Student Learning Entitlement (SLE) usage
- HELP assistance
The CAN can be found under my Academic Record. Students who are not Commonwealth supported or assisted will receive an Enrolment Confirmation Notice (ECN) which can also be found under my Academic Record.
Course contacts
To find your lecturer/course coordinator contact information, open the course details that can be found on the homepage, in my Current Studies and my Academic Record. The course coordinator will appear at the top of the page and is hyperlinked to the course coordinator homepage.
Credit transfers
For credit transfer details, go to my Academic Record and select the Credit Transfers link from the right hand side. Alternatively, the credit transfers for each individual program can be found on the program details page - for programs with current course enrolments this is found on the my Current Studies page. Alternatively, all programs can be found on my Academic Record.
For information regarding Credit Transfer refer to the Recognition of prior learning policy or contact your Campus Central.
Demerit points
To view your library demerit points in myUniSA navigate to my Resources. A summary showing the number of demerits is displayed in the library summary at the top of the page and the details can be found in the demerits section towards the bottom of the page.
The library policy on demerit points and fees provides information on demerit points.
Directory
To search the UniSA staff directory use the Search function in the top right hand corner of myUniSA. Select Directory from the dropdown list, enter your search term in the box below and select the magnifying glass icon. You can search by name, phone number, room number, function or location.
Discussions
If your course has an online discussion group this can be accessed by the course details page for the particular course from the homepage or my Current Studies. Open the course details page and scroll down to the Discussions section.
my Email links directly to your Microsoft
Outlook university email account. If you require assistance in using your email click on the
Help button located on the email toolbar.

The my Email summary that appears in the Reminders section on the homepage of myUniSA provides information regarding your email including the limits set on your mailbox size and how full your mailbox is.
Tips for managing your mailbox
Enrolment
myEnrolment can be accessed on myUniSA from my Current Studies and my Academic record in the related links on the right hand side.

Enrolment Confirmation Notice (ECN)
The Enrolment Confirmation Notice (ECN) is provided to all enrolled students who are neither Commonwealth supported or assisted and contains important information about enrolment and fees at the census date for each study period. The ECN can be found in my Academic Record.
Students who are Commonwealth supported or assisted will receive a Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN) which can also be found under my Academic Record.
Exam timetable
Your course exam timetable is displayed on the Course details page for the particular course. This page can be accessed from the homepage and my Current Studies. The exam timetable will display the date, time and location of your exam. See the Examinations site for more information.

Finance
The my Finance information in myUniSA include account balances, fee paying status for each study period, invoices and access to the University payment options to pay any outstanding balances. If you have any queries regarding your finances, please contact Campus Central.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
The Student Program GPA is the Grade Point Average that is calculated using all completed course grades obtained by the student. It is a cumulative GPA which is calculated and updated as new results are entered. For further information regarding how the GPA is calculated please refer to section 8: Final Grades and Notations the Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual. For further information contact Campus Central.
Note: A program grade point average is not relevant for Research Programs and is therefore displayed as 0.
Graduations
Graduations information is found on the Graduations page which is accessed from my Academic Record.
When you are eligible to graduate the details of your graduation ceremony will display including:
- Event - Description of the event for example December Graduation 2009
- Attendance Status - This is populated once you have registered to your intention to attend or not attend the graduation ceremony
- Respond By - The date that you must respond by to be able to attend the event
- Program - Program that you will be graduating in
- Go to myGraduation - link to register to graduate and confirm your details

Graduation ceremony dates and times
Home
myUniSA is a portal to your personal information which is stored in the University administrative and financial systems.
Student announcements appear on the home page. Announcements are either published to all students or to specific target groups such as transnational or research students.
The home page also includes the following alerts:
- when your internet and printer quota needs to be topped up
- when your invoices are available and if you have any outstanding balances
- details of books that are due to be returned to the library and when you have books available for pick up
- details of any IT help desk service calls
A search box is provided which allows you to search the UniSA web, Directory, Library, UniSAnet, AskIT, AskCampus Central, Google and Google Scholar.
my Links allows you to add your favourite links to external websites.
Portal links allows you to add links to a list of university sites and applications.
Latest Assignments displays details of assignments with a due date two weeks before and two weeks after the current date.
my Courses displays your current course enrolments.
my Stories display images linking through to UniSA news.
Internet Quota
Domestic and International students only: your internet quota and usage information can be found in my Resources under Internet. The Internet section displays your quota, the details of your usage and includes links to top up your internet quota.
Invoice
Your current invoice will be displayed in my Finances, and all previous invoices can be found below the most recent invoice.
For an accurate and up to date balance of your account, please refer to the Account Balances section in my Finances.

Please note: Transnational, Transnational Research, and OUA students do not see the my Finances section
IT Help Desk
The IT Help Desk is the single point of contact for all information technology issues within the University of South Australia. Help Desk staff are available to assist you with information technology support and, where appropriate, to refer you to alternative support areas.
The my Resources page displays all IT help desk service calls that you have made. You can find this information under IT help desk service calls on the my Resources page. To raise an issue with the Help Desk select the Log a help desk service call link below the IT help desk service calls table.

Library
Library information can be found in the my Resources section. This includes any current loans, books ready for pickup, requests and demerit points. Links are included to a range of library resources.

Logging off
To prevent unauthorized use of your UniSA username and protect your privacy, you must completely exit myUniSA. To finish your session, you should use the Logoff button that appears in the top right hand corner of myUniSA.
my Links
Links to external websites can be added to the Home page of myUniSA by using my Links. To add a new link follow the following steps.
- Navigate to the home page of myUniSA.
- Select add/edit links under my Links on the left hand side.
- Enter the URL, category and whether the site should open in the same
or a new window.. For
example:
URL: http://www.abc.net.au/news/
Description: ABC news
Window Location: New
- Select ADD LINK.
- Once you close the window (by selecting the red cross in the right hand corner) the link will now appear under my Links.
Your links can be deleted or edited by selecting add/edit links.
Materials dispatched
The details of course materials that have been dispatched are displayed on the course details page for the relevant course. This page can be accessed from the homepage, my Current Studies and my Academic Record. Materials are usually only posted for external courses.
Navigating myUniSA
To navigate within myUniSA there are links in the blue banner at the top of the screen, each displaying information on different topics. To navigate between these simply click on the different headings to go to that section. Once you've clicked on the heading the relevant information will be displayed, further detailed information is easily accessed by clicking on links located on each page.
Personal details
Your personal details are located on the my Personal Details page. This includes your name, address, email, phone and other relevant information. You can update your personal details by clicking on the link on the right hand side, this will open a new window to allow you to maintain addresses, telephone numbers and emergency contacts.
- To change your name, residency or citizenship details you will need to provide documentary evidence to your local Campus Central Office
- Mailing Address: You are required to provide a current mailing address. If you are attending classes on campus then this should normally be a South Australian address.
- International students: You MUST have your home address recorded as your home country (for example - Hong Kong). It should NOT be listed as Australia.
- Domestic and International students: You can change your address, emergency contacts, telephone numbers and disability details at any time either through myUniSA or myEnrolment
- Offshore students: Please contact your local administrator to update your personal details
- OUA students: Please contact Open Universities Australia
Printer quota
Domestic and International students only: Your internet quota and usage information can be found in my Resources under Printer. The Printer section displays your quota, the details of your usage and includes links to top up your printer quota.
Privacy
The University of South Australia respects the privacy of your personal information by adhering to privacy laws. This information does not extend to external websites linked from the University website.
Collection and use of information
One way of collecting information is through cookies, which are small information files that many websites store on your hard disk. When you log on to your UniSA email from a particular computer for the first time, cookies containing your log on information will be saved to your hard disk. The server can then read your cookie file to confirm your identity for that site.
Cookies can only collect information that has been provided by the user, or information such as the IP address which the server already knows.
In the case of specific personal data, the University may only collect and use information for the purpose for which the person has expressly consented (unless otherwise required by law).
The University of South Australia makes a record of your visit to our website and logs the following information for statistical purposes - IP address, the user's top level domain name (eg .com .gov .au, etc), the date and time of the visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited and the type of browser used. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider's logs.
Personal or financial information
A technically secure environment is in place when personal or financial information is collected to ensure that it cannot be accessed by other users or organisations. There is currently one e-commerce facility within our website Webpay - our secure online fee payment facility for students.
The network which hosts this facility has sophisticated security and publishing systems in place and transactions involving payment authorisation are conducted within the secure online environments of UniSA authorised banks and financial institutions to provide a greater level of security.
Internal users of the UniSA computer environment
The University has an onus to ensure that unacceptable behaviour does not occur on the computer systems and the policy relating to privacy on the University's IT network formalises this commitment.
Record of Study
There is a link from the my Academic Record page which can take you directly to the my Record of Study page. The Record of Study is your unofficial transcript. The information is updated regularly from the student records data, however you can produce an updated Record of Study by selecting the Update record of study button. This could take from 5 mins to an hour to produce an updated version on myUniSA.
The Record of Study is not designed to be used in the capacity of an official transcript. If you require an official record of your complete enrolment history you can obtain a copy of your Academic Transcript.
If you are in Bad Financial Standing you will not be able to produce a Record of Study.
Redirect my Email
You can redirect your university email to a personal or business email address that you may access more frequently. To redirect your email go to my Resources and select the Redirect my email link from the Related Information section. Read the conditions of use and then enter your alternate email address, click the disclaimer box and then add/modify. If you need to change or delete your alternate email address you can do so through the same link.

Resources
my Resources outlines the resources that are provided for your personal use. It shows your internet and print quota details of your usage and the remaining balances for internet, printer and email. You can also log an IT help desk service call and view the current system status.
You can see a summary of your Library records, how many items on loan, any items you have requested and if they are available for you to pick up and any demerit points or fines due.
Result Notice
There is a link to your Notification of Results available from the my Academic Record page. The Notification of Results is designed to take a snapshot of your results. The information is updated every few minutes on myUniSA from student records data. The Notification of Results is not designed to be used in the capacity of an official transcript. If you require this detail, it is recommended that you obtain a copy of your Academic Transcript.
Note:
- Provisional results for the current study period may be listed
- A fail grade is a provisional result subject to academic review
- If you are in Bad Financial Standing you will not be able to view any results, however, you will be able to view course enrolments per study period by year
Results
Your course results are located on the my Academic Record page. This will include current results and past results. If you are in Bad Financial Standing your results will not be displayed, the result column will be left blank.
If you have any queries regarding your grades you will need to contact your relevant course coordinator.
Alternatively, you can contact your local Campus Central office.

The search function that appears on the home page of myUniSA allows you to search the following sources:

my Services provides a list of links to student related websites and applications.
Student Contribution
The student contribution is the amount charged to Commonwealth supported students to contribute towards the cost of their education. The University, within the limits prescribed under the Higher Education Support Act (HESA), determines and publishes student contribution amounts on an annual basis. Prior to 2004, student contributions were known as HECS fees.
Student contribution information can be found at the top of the course details page.
Studies
my Current Studies displays your current enrolments, including program, course and class details. If you are currently enrolled in multiple programs, your most current program will be displayed first.
To change your course enrolments, select the myEnrolment link on the right-hand side of the my Current Studies page.
Study periods
Study periods were previously know as terms or semesters. A study period includes all aspects for the completion of a course - reading, preparation, induction and orientation, contact hours (or teaching period) and the assessment period. It does not include any supplementary or deferred assessment.

Note: Depending on your program of study, you may not need to enrol in all study periods.
Summary of Enrolments
Summary of Enrolments can be found on the my Academic record page in the Enrolment Summary section. This document is intended for use by you for delivery to third parties (i.e. Centrelink) to verify your enrolment before the census date. After the census dates of each Study Period you will be issued a Confirmation of Enrolment.
Top-up
Printer and Internet quotas can be updated from myUniSA by following the link to Top up my internet quota and Top up my printer quota on the my Resources page. Alternatively you can increase your quota by paying for additional printing by visiting the Campus Central office on your campus. You will need to fill out the form Application for Increased Student Internet OR Print Quota (PDF 43KB - download Adobe Acrobat). If you pay by credit card you can fax the form to your nearest Campus Central office. To find out more information, check out the quota management help page.
Units of study
Units represent the hours of student work required for that course. One unit represents approximately 40 hours of student work, including contact and non-contact time. The normal full time load is 18 units each half year or 36 units over a full academic year. A three-year degree requires 108 units.
