Authorship Policy

Preamble

The University of South Australia complies with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. Completion and retention of the Statement of Authorship Form fulfils the requirements of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.

 

Policy

A Statement of Authorship Form must be completed and retained for each publication at time of submission for publication.

Authorship is defined by the Australian Code as follows:

Procedures 

At the time of submission for publication, a Statement of Authorship Form will be completed.

For each publication, an executive author who accepts overall responsibility for the publication will be identified.

The information recorded will include: 

Under the Australian Code the University should establish procedures to resolve conflict arising through disputes about authorship. 

Any disputes will be brought to the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Research and Innovation) who will pass the dispute on to a Dean Research to investigate. (Deans Research will not consider disputes within their own Division). The Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Research and Innovation) will make a ruling if the dispute is not resolved. If academic misconduct is found, the matter will be brought to the attention of the Vice Chancellor, triggering the process outlined in the Award.
