1. Candidates for the award of the title of University Fellow will be recommended to Council by the Honorary Awards Committee in recognition of substantial continuous support for the University, evidenced by:
i support of the interests and welfare of the University of South Australia or of a particular part of the University's activities
ii promotion of the academic purposes of the University or of facilitating those purposes in any particular activity of the University
iii expanding educational opportunities among groups within the
community that the University considers have suffered disadvantages in
education
iv fostering links between the University and other institutions within and outside Australia
v outstanding service to the University of South Australia.
2. Nominations will be sought annually from members of Council, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor (Access and Learning Support), Pro Vice Chancellors, Divisional Pro Vice Chancellors/Dean: Whyalla, Heads of Units, Directors of Research Institutes and Professors of the University and senior academic administrators.
3. Nominations will be submitted to the executive officer of the Honorary Awards Committee and should contain a clear statement of the nominee's position, contribution to and relationship with the University with particular reference to the criteria outlined above.

5. The names of persons who have been nominated will be considered by the Honorary Awards Committee at the same time as nominations for the conferral of an honorary degree.
6. The Chancellor will report to Council the Committee's recommendations which will then be moved for adoption from the Chair.
7. Members of Council or members of the staff of the University will not be eligible to be nominated for the award while in office.
8. The award of University Fellow will take the form of a testamur and will be conferred at an appropriate occasion, usually a graduation ceremony.
