About the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences
From the Head of School
Welcome to the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University
of South Australia. Based at City East campus in the heart of South
Australia's premier medical training and research precinct, the School
offers a range of professional programs that prepare graduates for rewarding
careers in health science.
With more than 120 staff members and over 1000 students, the School is large
enough to offer a wide choice of programs and courses, yet small enough to
provide a supportive environment where each student is encouraged to do
their best. Our modern purpose-built facilities, experienced and dedicated
staff, and strong industry links combine to give our students skills that
are highly regarded by employers in Australia and around the world.
We offer
undergraduate programs in Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine, Nutrition and
Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science and the new Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical
Science Double Degree. A new degree in Medical Science will also be launched
in 2010. The School delivers expert teaching in allied health programs in
UniSA's Division of Health Sciences and the Bachelor of Science. Doctoral
and Masters
degrees
by research programs are provided in all discipline areas of the School.
Our coursework
postgraduate programs in Clinical Pharmacy and Surgical Pathology
Preparation provide continuing professional development to practicing
pharmacists and laboratory technicians.
The School has a long-standing commitment to outcomes-based research that
responds to today's big health care challenges with very strong links to the
Sansom Institute bringing together internationally-recognised research
concentrations in quality use of medicines and pharmacy, molecular medicine
and pharmaceutical science.
